Alrighty.
Turns out my Christmas IOU present from my sisters was/is a Wii. First console I've ever owned, and it plays about seven other consoles. I'm happy. Now, I'm not buying anything from the virtual store yet (Need... Chrono...Trigger! And Super Mario RPG!), but I went out and got myself the two Metroid Primes for the Game Cube (used. I'm cheap, dammit!) Anyways, I realized I made a slight mistake by only getting one genre of game, damn fine games, but I'm in the mood for some other games. Since I buy used, I can get probably two or three more games (And I know a guy who has Tales of Symphonia, and will likely give it to me...). My question is, what should these be? I'm waiting for Zelda on the Wii (I am not paying $50-60 for it. I mean, it rocks, but I don't have the money), so I'm thinking a good RPG, another shooter, and possibly a puzzle game. Current titles I'm looking at are: Megaman: Command Mission Hulk: Ultimate Destruction Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Resident Evil 4 (this is under my "Must Get Before Going To College" list) Fire Emblem Donkey Konga And several other games I can't think of right now (yes, I'm still high on my pain meds, m'kay?) Suggestions? Thoughts? Offers of free games? Knowledge of how to beat Thardus?

I am confused. Do our recommendations need to be just GC/Wii games?

I've heard Timesplitters 2 is a good game for the GC if you want a shooter. For RPGs, there's Tales of Symphonia, Paper Mario 2, or Baiten Kaitos.
Also, Thardus was from Metroid Prime right? Yeah, I had to use a walkthrough to understand how to beat him, and the writer made it seem like he was so easy to kill. What I would reccomend doing is going to the rock cliffs which are on the edges of the arena. Just jump onto one of these cliffs, and none of his ground attacks (slamming the ground which makes ice come out at you through the ground..) should hit you. If you are in the right spot, even his "Roll Up into a Ball" attack shouldn't work. At this point, you should really only have to worry about when he throws rocks at you, which shouldn't be hard to shoot at and destroy. Also, if you, like I did, have no idea how to even start then here's what you do. Put on your handy dandy thermal visor to blast one of his body parts to smithereens until your thermal visor gets overloaded. Then, switch over to the normal visor and blast away. Lather, Rinse, Repeat, Kill. |

Yeah, just GC/Wii games.
The ice attack does barely any damage, it's not what's killing me. It's just that its so long to kill him, and I can't hit him in the stupid blizzard. >_> I have a high rate of attrition towards my health.

On the same vein I'm looking for some hands-on stories of Wii titles. Because I spent most of a night looking at all the PS3 and Wii launch titles, and they're both equally pathetic (roughly one game per console I actually want to spend full price on a game for).
But, don't know 'til you try. I'm looking for a good singleplayer game with lots of "worth." Worth being number of hours I can play it. I figure this game is Twilight Princess, so not too much suggestions needed there... But I also need a good multiplayer game. Is there something better than Sports right now? Elebits looks a little too kiddy and the wacked out physics bug me. Trauma Center looks really neat, but too short and thus not worth the cash (a renter). Red Steel is getting really poor reviews (yet I nonetheless want to try it out), COD3 doesn't have a multiplayer. I don't like sports or racing games generally (Wii Sports is fine because its casual and has FIVE games). The DBZ fighter actually looks somewhat interesting so long as it's pretty responsive with the remote. So yes, my dilemma as well... |

I got a Wii too, and Wind Waker will fill that gap left in your soul temporarily until you get TP. However, I don't need it because I already have Twilight Princess and it rocks my socks all night long.
You could also get Killer 7, Super Mario Sunshine (which is fun, just kinda short) Any Viewtiful Joe game, Prince of Persia 1,2,3 (which has the best control scheme, in my opinion). Finally, Skies of Arcadia and this Evolution RPG that were both on the Dreamcast. Nice ports for the GC. Any chance you wanna swap friend codes? For the Wii?

Well, if it's just Wii/GC games you want get Tales of Symphonia. That's the only one I can recommend. I have like 4 GC games and ToS is the only one I play a lot.

Oh, before I forget, and since it hasn't been mentioned yet...
Skies of Arcadia for GC is amazing. I only got to borrow it from a friend, but I'm happy I did. Should be twenty bucks (or less) by now, and it fills the RPG gap very nicely. |

Don't bother with Megaman X: Command Mission. It's like Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter Lite.
I don't know if Wind Waker is even worth it. Considering you also have the best Zelda games at your complete disposal, the frequent sailing will probably just bug the shit out of you. Get Smash Bros.

Super Smash Brothers Melee. Super Mario Strikers. Super Mario Kart: Double Dash. All great multiplayer games. ToS fills multiplayer too. F Zero GX is decent.... that's all I can think of for Gamecube games really.
