Gmod update

So then Gmod was updated today. team garry messed it up.
I've gained a few new NPCs and items, and a new weapon, which is good, but i've also lost the ability to spawn airboat seats (a vital part of the process of building cool stuff), the ability to change my name in-game (no more anonymous romps of destruction) and the ability to turn on the fog (i was going to do something heavily fog-oriented.)
The bad thing about this update is: it's compulsory, in that when you turn on Gmod, it does it automatically, without the option to decline it. Now, hte graphics demand it heavier and all vehicles are piloted in 3rd person formats, which sucks because i like the 1st person better.
I'd better remember to include a point:
IF you have Gmod, and a fix for all this (other than the inevitable patch) please post here.
IF you have Gmod, and have lost stuff, or have opinions on the update, feel welcome to post here.
IF you don't have Gmod, post anyway, i want to hear what you think.

Furthermore, i've already advised one person not to go on Gmod until it's all cleared up, in order to keep things nice and easy, you might want to do the same.

What is Gmod?

Garry's Mod, a modification to the half-life 2 engine that allows you to place objects, enemies, scenery, etc as well as control enemy and ally ai etc. You can stage battles, build your own scenery, change the main game, etc. It is similar, in its ways, to the forge mode of Halo 3.

I want it, but my computer has no chance of running Half-life 2.

Yes to all, except the computer thing, that just sucks.
I'd advise you don't get it until everything's sorted, anyway.

Well I've had a play around with the new update. I like that the ragdolls now automatically look at you and have neutral faces when you first spawn them, and the Orange Box objects are nice. However the new Construct map doesn't impress me, I liked the little island in the middle of the water and the colourful room has gone. Luckily the old map can be downloaded here. Also, as mentioned, the Airboat seat is missing now for some reason as are all the custom NPCs I installed.

To switch to first person in vehicles press CTRL.

That's all I've really had a look at so far, are any of the tools etc different?

The thing is: I downloaded PHX for the models, and wire for the advanced duplicator, and i still have access to them, and all my advdup files (though my pure thrust plane's more or less useless now, 'cos the thrusters don't put out qiute the same amount of power. It still flies, but not as agilely as it used to.)
I've never DLd any custom NPCs, but all my weapons are still there, ehich strikes me as odd.
Also: I've not noticed any tools acting differently, but the tool menu does seem to be inverted, in that some of my DLd tools are at the bottom now. Strange.
