So I'm playing this Solatorobo game for the DS and I gotta say I find it really charming. It seems to be everything good about lighthearted PSX jRPGs reborn. For a DS game, it looks really fucking good, in part due to the drawn backgrounds in a lot of the areas. The writing is silly, but in a good way. It's happy and fun, as any game about animal-people should be. Music is pretty good, too, and it seems like it should do a pretty good job of mixing up the gameplay into different types and such. There's a nifty customization system, too.
I do have one concern, and that's the combat. Built around picking enemies up and throwing them and/or throwing them into each other and/or throwing barrels at them. I'm finding it pretty good right now, but I worry it'll get tiresome in the end. However, that's a concern about where the game *might* be headed Overall I'm really digging it and I recommend grabbing a copy. Here is the intro animation.
