Bit of backstory here: the lead guy on this is Tiy, the lead visuals guy that worked on terraria alongside digisomething something or other, left the terraria team when the head dev called it stopsville on terraria. Tiy started Chucklefish with some chums and have been working on Starbound.
Suppose it can be considered the spiritual successor to Terraria, starbound turns things up to 11. Almost everything from the weapons to entire planetary generation to creatures and their behavior is done procedurally. They have a very spiffy development roadmap for perusing the game's details. It opened up preorders yesterday and it gained well over $200,000 under 12 hours. pretty damn impressive! Figgered i'd post about it here seeing as we have a number of terraria fans that might be interested in this. Onto the meaty visuals of the subject! Call me wacky, but I rather do like barren environments. I hope I can find a place to touch base on that is like this one, which I assume is the Moon biome that I've seen referred to on the official forums. moon biome? and some blocks. Florian spelunkin Some florian cave spelunkin action. It's the little details like using construction lasers and such instead of blocks just being plopped down. A bit of the water physics demonstrationarying. Last edited by Grandmaster_Skweeb; 04-15-2013 at 01:10 AM. Reason: Wow, I really suck at posting with smartphones! |
