More on The Runaways

I noticed that my library finally got in the second of those great big volumes of collected Runaways comics. In which a new male character is introduced, there are tons and tons of cameos from other superheroes (and super-sidekicks) and Karolina finally tells the world what we've been able to guess from about halfway through the first big volume:

Karolina: I like girls.

Reader: Yeah, I figured as much.

Maybe I'm not being altogether fair to that character, but she also seems a bit crybabyish sometimes...

If you're worried about being fair I'm not sure you have any business discussing comic books on the internet.

You should see the hate some people level at Molly, basically for being a 12-year-old girl.

Well, she ain't my favorite, but her behavior is still quite a lot more palatable than what she pulled in this volume, which amounted to " This person who is my friend wasn't, liek, totally into it when I tried to home in on her lips like a guided missile therefore I wish I'd never been born, waaaaaaaaah." Well, gee, who possibly wouldn't be immediately turned on at the prospect of snog-by-ambush from someone who they considered their best friend? I don't care who makes your parts tingly, you have to be The Irresistible Girl to pull a stunt like that and not generate, at the very least, confusion.

I certainly wasn't like that at her age, with the tryin' to surprise-snog my best friends and all. I like Gert better. And get off my damn lawn. Lousy kids.[/crotchety]

No, just deeply Anglophilic. Besides, that was about the only synonym for 'kiss" that I knew of*, and I don't like to re-use words too often...

*okay, besides expressions like "sucking face". But these didn't occur to me at the time. I don't get out much.
