Futurama gets new season on Comedy Central

Again??!! Seriously, what the fuck??

I suppose this is good news, but I'm a little worried that this could finally end Futurama for good. As good as the show is, they really should just let it rest now I think, don't wanna go the way of The Simpsons now do we?

I think this is great. I see no reason for it to stop anytime soon. The only thing I don't like about the series is the love/just friends relationship between Leela and Fry. I'm ok with the times where memories were wiped or time altered, but going from Bender's Big Score where they finally fall in love to Beast With A Billion Backs where it's as if it never happened is really annoying.

Also, I bought Bender's Game on dvd, and it froze up on me, and haven't bothered to return it. Still, what I had seen was just as good as the rest of the series. I am also hopeful that Groening has learned his lesson with The Simpsons. Futurama is one of the few comedy series that pulls of emotional stuff very well. I come to tears every time I watch the episode with Seymour.

All the "movies" suck. In their defense, it's due to the pacing.

Hopefully going back to done-in-one episodes will put them back on track.

Yeah, I own the first four seasons (well, really all the seasons) but I've had no desire to own the movies.
As for the future season: I dunno?
I got really excited when Family Guy was coming back, but after subpar 'new' episodes finally aired, I ultimately decided that the new seasons weren't canon. It's like a strange part of me still considers the 'real' Family Guy to have ended when the show was originally canceled. I just wasn't able to get back into the series which is strange because I still own and enjoy watching the first two/three seasons.

I feel similarly about Futurama. Unless the new seasons really manage to shock me by recapturing the old magic, I might just adhere to the mentality that only four seasons of Futurama actually existed, and the rest is just equivocal to televised fanfiction.

It must have froze really early into the movie because... I mean... wow! Did that movie suck.

I think the problem Bender's game had with pacing is a side effect of suffering terminal failure about one third of the way through.
