I know, who would have guessed?
http://www.philly.com/philly/news/ho...suffering.html The very notion of a "for-profit" anything in our justice system* is inherently corrupt so honestly things like this are just the shit icing on top of the whole raw-sewage cake. *I mean except for the lawyers since the whole point is for them to be viciously partisan.

That's... fucking horrible on levels I have a hard time comprehending. This is pretty much straight up slavery, and just holy fuck these judges deserve a life sentence.

If someone ever tells you that having a lawyer will "make things worse" in a court room, that's about the exact second you should be getting a lawyer.

Sweet Jesus and the latter day Zombie Buddhists.
What the hell. How could anyone in a position of authority abuse it so much and get away for it for so long. That is bullshit. And who wants to place bets that the guys will get off on a handslap. |

Yeah, six thousand in court fees is much easier to handle.

I was sickened that this occurred in my state, and then further sickened that the two PA supreme court justice candidates blamed each other for it in the recent election. Hey, guess what, you're both to blame! You and the entire state justice system!
Hope they take these two judges and any prosecutors involved for all they can, and they should also be suing the people who gave them the bribes, the directors of those juvenile detention facilities. This is the biggest load in all of this: "On Nov. 20, a federal judge ruled that Ciavarella and Conahan cannot be held liable for actions in their own courtrooms under the 17th-century doctrine of judicial immunity, which is designed to give judges freedom to rule without fear of legal retribution." Really? When those judgments are directly taken in response to a bribe? Wouldn't that make them a tad bit impartial? And therefore not covered under this law? Apparently judges in this country have complete immunity from getting punished for their incredibly bad decisions, not only accidental but purposefully and knowingly illegal. So, since a federal judge ruled in their favor, I guess the entire country's justice system is in the toilet, but I already knew that. This is just another in a long line of injustices--the near constant freeing of mostly black men who have already wrongfully served years for crimes they didn't commit through the use of DNA testing had already convinced me that the system is anything but impartial, and anything but just. This is just further proof of the entire system needing revamped, mainly with a massive change of personnel.

I don't think these people knew they were going to have completely fucking batshit loco fees tacked onto everything you can pound with a gavel when they took that advice. It's the whole "Pay me now, pay me later" thing, except they didn't know it.
