So the courts have just allowed Sony to acquire the IPs of everyone that buys from or even visits the Jailbreak distribution site. Personally such an act is harmless given Sony's intent behind this (to see just how many actually buy Jailbreak). And even Sony can't sue millions of people at once.

You really don't see the problem in them trying to sue the world, get people's data to try for their own mass IP scare tactic or possibly run afoul of European private data laws?

They are not trying to sue the world. This information has been so watered down that people are stuck with these straws.

What Sony asked for and got was access to see and quantify how many people bought and sought the Information on how to Break their PS3, so that it could present in court a solid, real, estimate to make their case that Geohot and Jailbreak are not Harmless devices that operate into the law, but instead driving forces for illegal activity.

They are not writing off Millions of lawsuits. That would be stupid, it would just hurt their bottom line. They just want to legally prove with real numbers that even though people claim the Jailbreak is for legal purposes, the real numbers would prove that it's not the case

That's a Helluva lot of data, Bells, and a LOT of faith based belief...

You're going to Google for IP addresses. In those IP addresses are going to be a number of people from different states with a variety of different backgrounds.

Now, the lookup on all of these IPs will take months of work. It's also dependent upon who has that lookup. The reason the EFF is so up in arms is because of how far reaching this really is...

This is a far reaching precedent, to say that businesses have the right to look up this info, which can implicate a LOT of people down the road.

3. Then I'll counter sue cause I don't have a PS3.
