Video Games A man with no honor will become Batman : Dishonored Thread

So, Dishonored is out.

Reviews around are mostly positive, many pointing out some serious flaws and at the same time calling it a nice jump stone for a series.

Anybody here wants or already have the game?

My first experience with it is a mixed one. As it is with many. Most of our worries are there as the game is clearly a bit "gutted" and "clean" on the whole freedom and stealth thing.

First of all it still feel like you can hang your body wide open across space and enemies will not notice you. Then again, standing right behind them just one second too late WILL alert every enemy on the map to your exact position. The game tries to push you and warn you to be as pacifist as possible. Avoid killing (it matters) But the options you have to go around NOT killing people is like playing Batman Arkham Asylum with no vertical play. It's hard, and not necessarily super rewarding.

The game also doesn't look super sharp. There are quite a few muddle textures. THey are going for that "Bioshock Infinite meets fable" look. which is ok, but at times it looks like a darker color pallet of Team Fortress 2. Gameplay wise the game is solid. Platforming is Ok, Fighing is fluid. Access to your stuff is easy. One thing that got me of guard was this... To Choke enemies out (no lethal kill) you press Crtl... Try to navigate with WASD and press and hold crtl on the stop. You also use F to hold enemies and drag them to the shadows.

...seriously, try to navigate with WASD and quickly hold Crtil and Then F........

Little gripes that matter i suppose.

The overall of the game feels a bit like Portal with Killing. It's a bunch of puzzle boxes, but button pressing becomes throat slicing. And you CAN go around not killing anyone, but it's a challenge more than an option if that makes any sense. I don't doubt we will see more of this franchise, i also don't question the fact that this si a flawed first entry in the series. Power have been dumbed down (less duration, range or bigger cost) to cut on all that game breaking the developers said they were pleased to see going around. So by that alone you can take what Dishonored feels like.

A first Person Arkham Asylum with magic instead of Gadgets and very little vertical play (in a game that has a teleport spell)
