I know I'm on record with saying I'm not overly fond of developers refusing to take a chance on new ideas and release a few new games that don't have increasingly large numbers on the end, but after finishing The Walking Dead thing and not crying at the end like the big macho manly man that I am, I'm trying to figure out what to play next.
I mean, I've just been through KOTOR 2 which was awful, Resistance 3, which was actually pretty great, The Walking Dead, which was fantastic, and now I'm left looking at the game store shelf, not willing to take a chance on anything. I took a chance on a new beer last week and it was awful. Really bad, it was spiced, with some sort of sweet after taste. Eugh. So I'm worried that a new game might leave me with a bad taste in my mouth, which is totally different than wanting game companies to take a chance on new titles. So... (I know I'm going to live to regret this) I'm trusting you guys. What's come out in the last year or two? Doesn't matter; RPG, Action, FPS, Farming Simulator... I know I should look into getting Starcraft 2 now that Blizzard's |

Honestly, you aren't missing much of the plot on SC2 by skipping BW. Honestly.
That said, the game itself is a blast. The campaign is fun and innovative, and though I haven't had a chance to delve into the multiplayer myself, I've heard nothing but good things about it which is something of a surprise considering the overall fatigue people were feeling prior to the release of HotS.

I picked up Monster Hunter 3U this week. I've found it every inch as addictive as Tri was.

Steam's got an indie game sale goin' on right now, so maybe take a look there. To The Moon is half-price, I THINK, so if you haven't played that one yet, you might wanna give it a try. It's short, but very emotionally moving and well-written. Great soundtrack, too.
My sister bought Primal Carnage a few weeks ago and apparently enjoys it very much. The community seems very pleasant, where everyone is just genuinely happy to play a game where you can be a raptor, a T-Rex, or a guy who has a chainsaw that is also a flamethrower. Its Metacritic rating is fairly meh, and my sister says the voice acting is a level of terribleness on par with Dynasty Warriors 3, but she says it's a lot of fun and the dinosaur animations are impressive for a small development company. If you haven't played Scribblenauts Unlimited yet, you should do that too. It's fun trying to test the limit of the game's knowledge of the English language.

I direct you to this thread you actually posted in.
Also new IPs in the past year? I'd say the best would be Sleeping Dogs, Kid Icarus Uprising (not new really but a resurrection of an IP dead so long it's basically new, the mechanics are completely original too). Binary Domain isn't on the same level as the previous but it's cheap and underrated. There's more but they're just off the top of my head. What consoles do you have anyway?

On the subject of Scribblenauts Unlimited: Is the 3DS version good, or should I wait until I have access to a Wii U / buy it on Steam?

The latter from what I've heard, the Wii U version (and likely the Steam version as they're identical) are supposed to be pretty good. The 3DS version is saidto have crippling bugs and poor optimisation from what reviews I've seen.

I bought the steam version during the winter sale, and I enjoyed it very much. I would recommend it.
