"Just Bought The Old Republic" or "How Good Are Those There Free To Play Servers?"

So yeah, it was like $11.95 at the store and I thought 'Hey, why not?' There are free to play servers, right?

Without subscribing, or buying a card, or doing whatever it is that I'm supposed to do... How quickly do people wager I'm going to drop this game in favor of my $5 purchase, The Force Unleashed 2?

Okay, yeah. Star Wars. I like lightsabers.

The Old Republic is pretty damn terrible. A wow clone done poorly, with terrible restrictions for free to play players, many of the plots range from nonsensical to boring (sans Imperial Agent) and much of the FULLY VOICE ACTED STORY QUESTS are filler trash and tons of questgivers start CONVENIENTLY speaking Huttise in the later levels of the game. All and all a pretty terrible game to play unless you have a friend with you to laugh at most of the trash then genuinely be surprised when a rare good moment happens.

What it also is, is better then the Force Unleashed 2.

You basically need to drop another couple bucks into it for the gear unlocks at least, yeah.

But uh, yeah, still gonna be way better than TFU2. So you know.

You're in luck! Thanks to the Karma Meter, you can be a good or bad guy regardless of your class, race, background, shoe size, and blood type!

Wanna be a Sith Warrior? You can still save kittens from trees and donate blood to hungry vampire orphans.

Wanna be a Jedi? You can be the biggest arsehole Jedi in the whole galaxy.

It's all very silly, but you can do it if you want.

Personally, I had a lot of fun in the original free to play model (free to 15 or so, I believe) as a Bounty Hunter. I was an arse who shot some kid's dad so the kid would be shipped off to a Sith academy. He needed something to hate if he was going to survive there, so I like to think it worked out for the best.

That was generally how I played him. Following the letter of the contract regardless of what I was supposed to do. Pity there's no reward for staying neutral as opposed to being a Goody Two Shoes or a Mustache Twilight Menace.

Good guy sith is hilarious because there's no end to the Jedi that will try to justify attacking you, there are a few exceptions but for the most part almost every one will go nuts on you even as you plead and beg for a nonviolent solution to the issues at hand.

Is that a thing in this game? Is that a thing... anywhere? Do vampires have babies and die? Or are they orphans who become vampires? What kind of person sees orphans and goes "You know what would make this better? Vampirism!"

That's kind of the point, though.

Good guy Sith Warrior reveals a lot of the corruption in the jedi order.

I mean the guy training almost every jedi who does that goes sith at the end of act 2.
