The chat is pretty cool when people there talk, and the public announcements and life help threads are very useful I think, but the forum is lacking something in between. And also active topics in general. Thus:
I joined a theater group the other day. We're putting up a play about normal people stuck on a raft who discuss which one of them they should eat. My character is called Normal, but I think it's just because he wants everyone to think he is. What's up with you guys?

Currently, I've been playing in two RPs run in the chat room here in the forums, one run by Steel (Dresden Files, thursdays) and the other by PF (Anima, fridays), and running one of my own (Exalted, Saturdays).
The Anima game just ended tonight, and I'm just going to toss out that my character kicked another character's (whom I will leave to claim responsibility on his own if he wishes) in the 'groin' so hard it knocked him out. In that game I play a sixteen year old martial artist, who's something of a naive young girl trying to do what's right. In Dresden Files I'm a 30ish detective and ex-cop with no magical mojo at all and a penchant for destroying every building I come into contact with. He's gruff and doesn't think things through, but has a heart of gold. Then on Saturdays I run Exalted. Though that is probably finishing up tomorrow or next week. After that I'm not completely sure what I'm going to run. If anyone ACTUALLY cares, there's threads for log files in the RP Discussion forum for all of them. . . .I've also gotten back into SWtOR. New expansion is pretty good, but it's still got all it's SWtORy problems and it's scummy as hell freemium model. But they finally changed things so I don't have to chose between stats and their ugly as sin raid gear, so my smuggler looks like a smuggler again, and I still enjoy playing her greatly. That said, tell me more about this play. Who ends up getting eaten?

I'm not sure actually. The ending is very ambiguous.
The Fatty wants to eat The Shorty, and all the normals really want The Fatty to be right about everything, so it's basically an hour of The Fatty pushing The Shorty around cheered on by three flavors of sycophants - The Normal, The Cynic and The Yesman - until The Shorty agrees to sacrifice herself. Then she starts speechifying in a slightly surreal way and the music fades in and the play ends in the middle of a sentence. I'd be laughing in the face of the writer if not for the one detail that none of the characters' names ever come up in the story.

Something about the power of authority, I guess. It's a very bare bones script and we haven't had time for anything besides practicing lines, but I may find out more later.
In the worst case I'll just focus on doing my part as well as I can and getting to know all my pretty co-actors as well as I can. ![]()

Hm. Well after picking up some weird bug that stops me from sleeping right, which has been coupled with a family that likes to wake me up as soon as I close my eyes, I have managed to stumble through GMing Dresden Files this week, and I still managed to inflict some nasty stuff on my players while doing so. I feel pretty happy about that!
The following day I was apparently operating on even less sleep and managed to coherently convince a Dragon not to attack a vampire (she would have ripped him apart anyway) and got to meet a messenger from the god of perfection, who told me that I was more important than the huge dragon anyway. And then we sailed to magical Japan Island. Anima is a game where that all made sense. Now, tonight, Krylo's Exalted game is running and it's time to see if my pattern of not nearly getting enough sleep will hold! Odds are pretty good. Sadly we're currently running through the end-game, so everything is trying to kill us. I mean it. Literally everything. This is what happens when you steal hell's most valuable prize, and the exit is 5 days away. So that will be fun! In other news I finally hit 4 digits in my post count. This forum ain't fuckin' going anywhere, I want to enjoy that for a while.

"Final Fantasy XI: Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition"? Is that more or less egregious than Square's other stupid titles like Dream Drop 360 over Theatrhythm? I can't tell.
Not to mention they want £24.99 for an old-ass game.

![]() Quote:
As for me, I'm trying to read This Book is Full of Spiders Seriously Dude Don't Open it, but I have to put it down every ten minutes because all of the characters annoy me so much. Except Amy. Don't get me wrong, she's also annoying, but she's the only one whose likability outweighs her annoyingness. I mean even the invincible, all-knowing, good Dr Marconi can't open his mouth without shit coming out. He cites the statistic that people can only feel sympathy for around 150 other people, and the human brain is forced to sort everyone beyond that into non-humans. That's probably factual and all, but then he draws the conclusion from this that the world needs Jesus-style human sacrifice with regular intervals in order to function when all you'd need is to teach the elementary arithmetics skills that let you juggle and stretch those 150 to include all mankind. Probably the writer didn't want to get the narrative entrenched in a frank and full discussion about how to make the world better for everyone as much as set up a plot where it seems that one or more of the characters will have to sacrifice themselves to save the world (which may or may not result in that actually happening), but I thought the book at that part fumbled a nice chance to change its tune from the otherwise relentless parade of paranoids, patriots, gun nuts, misanthropes, video game blamers, drunks, slackers and ignorant, self-righteous murderers that make up the cast, besides Amy. Yes, even the dog is disappointing. By dog standards, not dog-in-fiction standards. I know the author likes to paint fallible, human characters but I think he's almost overdoing it.
