This is probably going to create some pretty significant backlash. I was going to eventually buy the Assassin Creed games on PC, but fuck that.

On the other hand, piracy will surely find a way. If they can emulate Steam I'm thinking they can emulate a little Internet connection to fool the game.

Pirates always win. Now, I don't want pirates to always win, but game companies make it that way. It's a sad tug of war. I was thinking of getting it, but I might as well just borrow my friends 360 copy now.

Whelp, aside from Settlers 7, I really wasn't looking forward to any UbiSoft games lately so I guess it's good bye UbiSoft. I'm not really liking the idea of constant connection and I don't always play with a connection on when I'm playing video games. Oh Well, a few less games I'll be buying from now on.

Yup, um...I gave Rise of Flight, the first game review I ever got published, the lowest score the editors would possibly allow because it had this feature.

Oh what's that? Playing the game in a wi-fi hotspot and it blips for a second? Yeah you're not playing the game you paid for anymore.

Well since my gaming PC is only connected to the internet like once a month (and that's just to log into Steam to authenticate my games, yay Steam!), I have zero chance of playing any UbiSoft game from now on.

If they shutdown their servers for maintenance. You can't play your game. If they don't patch it away and shutdown their servers permanently, you can never play your game again. It's like an MMO but its not. A Single Player game should not be treated as an MMO, it really shouldn't. It's sad that people will pirate the game to get back at them, which doesn't work and just makes them think of more assholic ways to DRM their games but oh well.

What's funny is that this will do nothing to slow piracy and will cause even more people to either not buy the games or pirate them out of spite.
