Yeah, so a while back there was this reboot of X-Com announced that turned the whole thing into a 50's pulp sci-fi FPS.
It turns out there's ALSO going to be another game that takes the series closer to its roots. Supposedly it'll be out this fall. Color me optimistic.

I am actually trying to think of a franchise revival by a different dev that was actually pretty good.
All I am getting is Fallout. But there has to be one I am missing. |

Someone, somewhere, is bitching about it not having Time Units anymore.

Never played XCOM, but I have been playing UFO: Aftermath recently after borrowing it from a friend, which as I understand it is essentially the same thing. It's pretty good, but the missions are starting to get repetitive and my team is really over powered.

Having not played the UFO: AfterBLANK series myself, what I can tell you is that does occasionally happen in X-Com as well. The thing is, instead of feeling bored, all you feel is sweet, sweet payback for all the hell the aliens put you through in the first dozen or so missions.
