Chapter One
Chapter Two Chapter Three There seems to be a few anime enthusiasts on the forums here, so hopefully this will come to a receptive audience. My apologies if it's not really the place for it. I've recently been introduced to the Gunslinger Girl franchise, and I have to say that cracking stuff from beginning to end, and that I can't sing its praises highly enough. I'm so taken with it, in fact, that I spent the previous weekend writing out a fanfiction instead of the assignment that I'm supposed to be researching... :gonk: If you're not familiar with Gunslinger Girl, or don't like anime & manga in general, before you hit the "Back" button I urge you to give it a try - I've endeavoured to make the story stand on its own merits as an independent tale, and any necessary background information (and it's kept to an absolute minimum) is referenced in the text itself. The full story runs to some 13,300 words, divided into three chapters. Sorry for linking out of the forum, but the chapter divisions and cleaner interface on dA make the story more convenient to read at length than a thick wodge of text put up here, I find. Enjoy! Comments and criticism, both positive and negative, detailed or just quick first impressions, are always appreciated. |

First off, how long have you been writing, because I am about halfway through the first chapter and already it's a brilliant piece of literature. I always have trouble with describing settings, but you nail it. Not that I'm exactly the one you'd want critiquing a piece like this.
I'm only sorry that fanfictions don't usually get large publications anywhere. Have you had anything published over your career? Because it looks like you could sneeze and have a paperback fall into your lap. ![]() Sorry for the briefness. I'll read more after dinner.

Thanks for the kind words, Bob, they're much appreciated.
![]() As for other writing, I'm kept too busy by the current day job to indulge in as much of it as I'd like, but for the time being I do keep my hand in by doing scriptwork for a few webcomics (I posted here about one of them a few months back) and contributing copy to review sites. |
