Sega is challenging Sony's PSP. Although it's just a media device it's apparently going to be able to play games to. I looked up some videos and it looks all right. It really hasn't been released yet and only a hand full of units was placed in arcades around London. I wonder how well this will do once it gets released. What do you guys think of The Sega Vision?

I don't think it'll do well outside of Japan. But if Sega were to come back into the hardware market, they would have to REALLY work to drum up support for this since their games division isn't really up to snuff as it used to be.

This is honestly the first and only time I've heard of this Sega Vision and I want to scream "elaborate hoax", but fuck that, let's get aboard the hype train:

9/9/9, bitches! Dreamcast is gonna have its muthafuckin' revenge!

It's mainly Sonic Team and their outsourced stuff what has been lacking quality. World Destruction, 7th Dragon, and Valkyria Chronicles all met incredible approval everywhere, and they've been publishing very high-pedigree third-party stuff too (MADWORLD).

i thought you guys already knew about this one... it's kinda of old news (im pretty sure i saw something about it on Kotaku weeks/months ago). And it dosent seem to be any sort of rival to the PSP. It's a multimedia device more than anything else...

The gaming capabilities are limited to Java titles only.

Java titles only
I personally find that interesting, because to my understanding, Java is very rarely used for game-making.

I'd better rephrase... If they got back into the console market, they would have to drum up support for the console to compete with Sony because
A) it would be a new game system late in the gaming cycle
B) some people would remember the Dreamcast and get queasy and
C) third party support would be few and far between and they would have to make less games of greater quality (similar to Nintendo and the Wii right now)

They might actually have to kill off Sonic...

The last of the Sonic and the Secret Rings games... Sonic and the Grim Reaper... I'm pretty sure that would solve our problems...

It sounds like a handheld release and, considering past history with them, this wouldn't be a problem.

But the Dreamcast was awesome.
