I saw this movie last night. I do not get scared at "scary" movies, at all. It's been years and years since I've been scared at a movie.
I was pretty tense by the end of this movie. But that's not the worst part. This movie sticks with you. I was pretty scared last night, and it took me several hours to fall asleep. This never, ever, ever happens to me. I'm extremely impressed with the movie and a little ashamed that I was actually affected by it. If you think you are not scared by movies, watch this movie. What are other people's thoughts?

What exactly is it about? Is it the alien one, or something else? I have a passing interest in the paranormal, so I'm just wondering if it's ghost stuff or what.

I was kind of dissapointed. I've always enjoyed letting myself get a bit scared during a movie like this, but this one just didn't work for me. My eyes got a bit wide at the part where The girl got drug out of the bed and into the other room and started screaming, and of course at the very end where she stabs her fiance and the cops shoot her, but overall the whole movie felt like the calm part of the horror movie that gets you ready for the scary part. and then no scary part.
EDIT @ Blue: A young couple moves into a new home and suspects there may be a ghost or supernatural presence of some kind. The man buys a camera and starts using it to try and record any signs that there might be something inhuman in the house. The entire movie shows only the parts caught on tape, and sometimes scenes are implied rather than shown (the only part of this movie that I actually found interesting). If you're usually interested in paranormal type stuff, then this is good, but I found it lacking as a general, all-purpose 'scare the shit out of you' movie. I watched it last week, not in a theater mind you. It wasn't scary. I really don't understand the hype this has received.
Maybe it was the lack of theater atmosphere. |

This movie is not a jump out and scare you type of movie, like Drag Me to Hell (which was laughable). I don't consider a movie like that scary. This movie is a tense kind of movie that sort of evolves as it goes along. Also, I would say a theater setting is absolutely necessary for the movie to have an effect; on t.v. or on a computer I could how it could it be kind of boring and ignorable. When it's in your face, too huge to look away, and the silence is deafening...yeah, that's when it has an effect.

I haven't seen the movie, but it kinda sounds like the Blair Witch Project goes Suburbia.

Wait, are they going with multiple differing endings? That's kinda sneaky of them, I heard of the ending with the camera attack.

Version I saw on Halloween was the camera-toss followed by her attacking the camera, which compared to the other two you guys have mentioned sound even lamer than I thought it was.
I didn't think the movie was particularly scary, I liked some of the things they did, such as setting fire to the Ouija board and the burnt photo from her childhood home up in the attic, apparently where the demon has been "staying" right above their bed, and the loud footsteps and so forth, but I felt the ending was way too anticlimactic. I wanted it to build up to an epic storm. I wanted the house to shake, the windows to blow out, I wanted what's-her-face getting up in the middle of the night and Micah finding her carving pentagrams into her flesh, and the house burning down, and her like cutting his head off and tossing it at the camera while there's demonic laughter/chanting and then her laughing wildly as the roof collapses. And maybe some bloody/fiery pentagrams appearing on the walls. Instead we get an ending which just didn't work properly in my opinion. I have to echo Micah's sentiment to the demon, "Is that all you've got?" It should have been more extreme. Her cutting her own throat would've been a definite step up from what is in theaters now.

I felt the movie had some potential, but it was pretty lacking alltogether. There was so much buildup to too little a payoff.
