*edit*This is a response to Clevingers front page*/edit*
That insensitive banter that Floridian actually angered me enough to post in here again and defend my states honor, and coincidentally my driving. Signals me personally, I use them but I feel like I might be an exception to this as I rarely see anyone else use them. But in the defense of our drivers it is because people tend to speed up so you can't get over when you put them on, even if they are way behind you. This brings up your manhood and passing. I'm sure Virginians might be worse about this than you guys. In Virginia we don't let people pass because well by them being in front of you, you are no subject to the person in front of you's speed regardless if they are speeding. Why limit your speed, sure the speed limit may be 45 but hell if I want to go faster, I want to be able to do it. Granted though a lot of people in Virginia aren't complete douches here when it comes to this. But I think New Yorkers are worse on this than Virginians. You need to just blatently cut off people there. As far as the right and the left pedal go, ha-ha funny sir. We at least know them well enough to not get in accidents every five seconds. But you forgot about the clutch for manual cars so in your face. Last edited by SoulBrother; 01-16-2010 at 12:44 AM. |

Edit: Front page, Gems. Brian's hating on VA drivers. /edit
I'd like to know what is meant by this not knowing the pedals business? Are we not going fast or slow enough? Are we not reacting to things quickly enough or are we over-reacting? What do you meeeeean, Mr. Brian? Also, be prepared for people to sit at green lights for, like, two seconds before they go. We're all terribly afraid of that guy we see every now and then who blows through a red light way after it changed. Watch out for him.

Well, it's comforting to know that Georgians that aren't the only people who lose their fudge whenever it rains (and yet, on a normal day, everyone will drive 15-20 mph above the posted speed limit).

As a proud Belgian (Seriously, can traffic rules get more complicated then in Belgium?) and European I'm gonna say just to piss you off:
"Wait you Americans can drive?" Nah, in all honesty I've been to the East coast of the US a couple times, a few times New York, a few times New Jersey, a few times Florida (only place I have driven myself too, lol) and also to Virginia. In all honesty the rage my dad has when driving depends on how good or bad the traffic goes (and how well mom reads the map, and don't any of you guys dare say women and maps don't go well because dude, my girlfriend is a walking talking freaking GPS on her own) and well, Florida: Having driven there myself in Florida (Miami, everglades, Orlando,...) I didn't see that many idiots drive there. New York City: Driving? It's New York City you idiot, you don't drive there, you sit in your car and can't move with those traffic jams, take the subway. Viriginia, well, let's say, nope, not that many idiots there either. |

I've seen cars spin out here so badly, you'd think they were on a sheet of ice, instead of a mildly soggy road.
Though I think the signal complaint is valid for Florida as well.

I will say this, Virginians cannot drive in the snow and at the same time can. Virginians tend to panic like hell froze over if there is an inch of snow on the ground. The majority of the drivers will slow down and adjust while a ton will also slide every where and go into ditches, but surprisingly not many accidents.
I saw on the news of people in Florida and Georgia last week with them all hitting people when it honestly was like just a lil bit of ice. Hilarious to watch. New York, if it is anything less than 3 feet of snow they don't notice. Then again they have a hell of a snow plow system there. |

The main rule in Florida is that all the time, somewhere, somebody is a student driver, whether they actually are or not.
Not a day goes by without me seeing something insane being pulled off. |

To quote Dave Barry, "the one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above-average drivers."
I'm not that great of a driver; I've only been driving for a year now and I'm still working on things like not panicking when driving in downtown DC. So I get angry and confused as to how people who have been driving for decades can be worse drivers than me. I get angry and confused every day.

Virginia has roads? Evidence?
Seriously though; last time I was there, I found the drivers every bit as bad as everywhere else. They seem to do an inordinate amount of "speed up to pass you then slow down to below the speed limit" though.
