This has been mentioned multiple times when talking about LPs here (and other places, of course). I'd wager most people that read them have seen it by now, as it's really popular. Also was there discussion or something to be had with this thread instead of just a link and the fanart poster?
EDIT: In fact, let's go with this: Name an LP that you would highly recommend and briefly describe it (WITHOUT giving spoilers about both the game it covers and the LP itself). We've done this before, but that was mostly people throwing 1-10 links in a post to LPs. Pick one and do it justice to entice others to read it, be it a classic or a newer one. I may take your posts, if they are done well enough, and merge them into the LP sticky as examples of doing it right and recommendations for interested viewers to read.

Inside Freeman's Mind
You know the game, you know the man, now get inside his head. I know this has already been linked before, but not in this thread. |

Everything by the Freelance Astronauts, just for the crazy banter that has nothing to do with the games. But also the things they do to the games.
Boatmurdered. Research Indicates's run of Jurassic Park: Trespasser, as an example of someone playing through a game while being very knowledgeable of it. Has a great air of someone who knows what he's talking about, with a good speaking voice. |

"Let's Play". Name comes from (I think) the Something Awful boards. Now it's a general term for entertaining video game playthroughs.

Okay Lev I have no idea what half of those acronyms mean.
Anyway, I really like Jerusalem's two LPs on the archive. A Scotsman in Egypt is unbelievable and his San Andreas one was a good read too. Did a nice job of fleshing out everyone's characters. LT Danger's LP of Neverwinter Nights 2 and Scorchy's LP of KotoR 2 are good for the same reason. All the massive asides explaining the thoughts behind the game and the cut content. Lt Danger's ongoing LP of Mask of the Betrayer is even better, acting as really interesting in depth review of everything behind one of the better written games ever. From DnD trivia, to the mythological backgrounds of the various archetypes and stories to discussions on the psychology and philosophies of the various characters. Basically it's a literature student tearing into a game the same way they normally go into books, and it's interesting to read. Also probably doesn't bear mentioning as they're nearly as well known as The Terrible Secret of Animal Crossing,But I'll mention them so people get some idea what might have been the origin of our massive number of Pokemon LPs. RedChocobo's (now Chorocojo on SA) LPs of the various Pokemon games are great. He just started on Platinum too. Zorak's Pokemon Quartz is also hilarious due to the sheer WTF present in the romhack he played. On Dwarf Fortress don't forget Headshoots and Syrupleaf. Actually preferred Syrupleaf to Boatmurdered and Headshoots myself. The massive community interaction created a bizzarely alive fictional world.

Ongoing: the Chzo Mythos, a series of adventure horror games written and made by Yahtzee of ZP fame. It's very informative, not afraid to rip into some of the more ridiculous design choices (and boy are there a lot), and as an added bonus, Yahtzee himself is giving input.

Drakengard.
The Dark Id takes on one of the oddest games of the PS2 era. It's not often that a terrible game has a plot weird enough to almost make up for it, and Drakengard is one of those games. For the few people here playing Nier, Drakengard is also canonically linked to it via Word of God. I recommend you check out his Let's Plays of the Resident Evil series too. |
