Video Games EA pulling games from other places...

In a blog post, GMG's community manager explains: "Bad news folks, we very unfortunately have to pull down EA products from sale in all regions except for the UK.

"We're currently in talks with EA to see if this can be changed, however I can't give any kind of guarantees aside from saying as soon as I know something I will let you know too."

The company does not specify why it has removed EA's games from sale, or why the UK is exempt. It appears a safe bet, however, that it is somehow connected to EA's combative stance on how DLC is delivered and sold to customers. Several EA games have been removed from Steam for that reason in recent months.
So basically, EA seems to just hate other people making money off their products. This is really going to hurt them in the end because it's splitting the community but I've said enough. Obviously, EA pulling trying to rely on just EA just doesn't bode well for the overall gaming community.

With this approach they can really squeeze out a lot of money through Origin exclusivity. However, if Origin fails (not likely thanks to Battlefield 3), I'd be surprised if they didn't pull out of the PC market entirely.

Hey, Epic Games already did that after Gears of War 1 with "waa pirates waa". EA could quite easily say "not enough sales to make PC versions viable" despite the fact said lack of sales may be due to self-sabotage.

Since the last thread I have taken the plunge and purchased BF3 on Origin. It's actually not too bad. Boots up like a mule, browsing store isn't as intuitive to me, but download speeds are blazing.

well the PC market isn't the best as is. The only real advantage is, atleast to my knowledge, they dont need to pay royalties. But with the constant concern of piracy and smaller market, they might view it as more trouble then its worth.

Now I dont want to get into a thing here, yes there could be made changes to lessen these issues, but I am just talking about the current models being used.

Consoles have piracy as well just thought it was worth mentioning it might not quite as prevalent but it certainly does happen. The reason game companies pull away from the pc market is because pc users are pretty damn finicky about the game they buy. Where as alot of console users wont give a shit plus consoles don't have to deal with horibad drm.

thats the thing, prevalent. piracy has been around for decades, but only recently has grown to such a degree. Besides the reality isn't the issue, what matters is what the company thinks is true. These are still people and just as vulnerable to hype and propaganda as anyone.

But PC gamers being picky? yea particularly graphic snobs. It costs alot of money to render graphics on these machines, and they do it because if they dont PC gamers get all whiny. I saw a huge stink about one game being, only, 720p. Consoles are bad too though, just not as bad since the gamers have a standard that is now rather dated.

Pirating a console game is just as easy as pirating a PC game, you just have to be careful about using some of the online features sometimes. Not every time. It isn't a concern for most games, to be honest.
