So I'm watching this story about a guy rebelling against a corrupt corporate hierarchy only to learn that he's actually become the puppet of his stylish and charismatic evil doppleganger pursuing a radical agenda of destruction for its own sake against which the hero must ultimately find within himself the strength to rebel.

Basically what I am saying is this is Final Fantasy VII the movie.

I was watching Titanic yesterday and it occurred to me, if life is a ship racing and/or sinking towards inevitable doom, what's so bad about playing one last song before you go down? Like what else are you going to do, jump to your death just to get it over faster? Isn't it an amazing, haunting testament to the human condition to spend one's last doomed moments making something beautiful; making music?

Tyler Durden insults Martha Stewart by making a metaphor about her arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, but I think that insult falls short. Don't get me wrong, I find Martha Stewart as essentially useless as the next guy does, it's just a thoughtless metaphor. By extension, he's saying anything you do when you're on board the Titanic - or any kind of doomed journey, like life - is less meaningful because it's not going to last. Whereas anyone who's felt the thrill of living that accompanies the awareness of death can tell you it's exactly the opposite: Knowing it's not going to last makes anything almost infinitely more precious.
