So I've been struck by insomnia. Or not. Point is, I haven't had more than two hours of sleep for the past three days. I've tried the ususal sleeping aids and the like, no caffine after six and whatnot, but it's having no effect. Figured I'd ask here: What do you do you get to sleep?

I usually drink two cups of coffee about an hour before bed; if that's not available, I'll drink a red bull. It puts me right out.

What are you telling this poor man, Nikose?
Is this like the thing I used to do in computer help threads with magnets but applied to insomnia?

What's the temperature like in your room? Do you have any ceiling/box fans to help circulate air and keep it cooler? I know for me I always have a hard time sleeping when it gets too hot, like this time of year when the ac in my apartment isn't working.
Stop trying to fall asleep, just let it happen. On average, it takes about twenty minutes to fall asleep. Try attending only to your breathing. You probably won't fall asleep while doing that, but afterwards it should be easier to fall asleep. I've heard it recommended to tense and then relax your muscles in groups. Start with your feet and work your way up. Tense your muscles for about 5-10 seconds and then relax. Is anything bothering you? Has something new or unexpected happened? Something expected, but dreaded? Again for me, I have a really hard time getting much sleep when I know I have to be at work at 5 or 6am the next day. What's your sleep schedule like? Do you have a regular bedtime/ wake time during the week and change it for the weekends? This is generally a bad idea as you're resetting your circadian rhythm not once, but twice (Friday and Sunday) in a short period of time, which can lead to low quality sleep more than insomnia, but still.

I'm quite stressed which makes sleeping a hassle sometimes so a bottle of a cider tends to help.
Passion fruit juice is a decent non-alcoholic substitute. |

Well if I really can't get to sleep, I just take a hot shower & I'm able to get right back to bed. Really helps when I'm trying to sleep in the wrong time zone.
And it couldn't hurt if you start putting ear plugs in to tune out as much noise as possible. They don't cancel noise entirely, so your alarm should still be able to wake you, but a car just passing by shouldn't. SWB
