Even if I had a PC that could run your super futuristic grafix games, DRM is half the reason I think I'd stick with console gaming. I payed to rent the game (Something you can't do with PC games in general), so I'm not breaking any laws, and I don't have to put up with goddamn stupid DRM. I always win.

I haven't pirated a game since I was 16. I don't think it's right and I don't think the companys actually care for the reason you pirate. Pirating to stick it to the man seems pointless as it just means they'll try figuring out more ways to piss off their customers to prevent pirating. My stance is, If I don't want the DRM I wont buy the product. I didn't like StarForce as a DRM because it could actually screw things up so I didn't purchase games with it on. I wont be purchasing games with it needing a constant connection when it isn't an MMO. I'll just spend my money on a different game instead.

Yeah, its how consumerism works ya know. You buy what you like. If you don't like something don't buy it. Pirating isn't something I think is right so why should I do it? Plus it doesn't "teach" the companies a lesson at all. If I miss out on a game so be it. It's not like there aren't other games out there that can take up my time and be just as enjoyable.

This isn't exactly a wrong philosophy, but I seriously doubt companies wouldn't take this opportunity to tack on more DRM and squeeze every last dime out of consumers who might be legitimately renting or buying a used copy.

And of course the other thing I like with PCs over consoles, which is games being as high as $20 cheaper a pop. Maybe more if Steam does one of their sales (most recent case in point, Bioshock 2 4-pack came out to $40 per person, versus me buying it in store for the Xbox 360...$70+tax).

Edit: On console hacking, not hard at all! I know so many people that do it. Sure, it's a little tougher to hack and then play online, but then that's often the case for PC gaming too. Even then, not that hard. The differences in platforms is marginal in terms of ability to pirate.

I all honesty, i have the same PC for 6 Years now, and it chugs on Half Life 2 and Cafe World on Facebook, so i'm pretty sure i was off-base on what i said. I should just say that there is a constant cycle of Hardware Upgrade, and that the cycle for PC's is shorter than that of the Consoles.

And yeah, PC games come out cheaper and become cheaper faster than on consoles. That's a counterbalance. If they were to cost the same as console games, PC Gaming would be dead by now...

As for console hacking... yeah... Microsoft has a decent response to console hacking, Sony still has a unbreakable brick wall (aside from a few Faux news saying otherwise), and Nintendo is still the Pirate's bitch... point being that Consoles still managed to deal with Pirates with at least a notable degree of success without pissing of their consumers.

The cost of purchasing PC games is a necessary compensation for the fact that you can't rent PC games. If you want it either you pirate it or buy it. There is no in-between.

Consoles are the only place where anti-piracy protection works - and even then, not always - but they don't screw with legitimate players. The DS is a great example: There are, yes, games with no Anti-Piracy Protection at all, but then there's stuff like Zelda Spirit Tracks with an APP consisting of checking - somehow - if you're pirating. If you are, when you get into the train, no controls for you. It works and only screws pirates and it takes far longer to crack than PC games.

Guys, remember that Penny Arcade comic about limited installs DRM so the game producers can get whores for longer? Yeah.

I heard modding the Wii has a stupid high chance of console bricking, although, yeah, the DS is mostly piracy's bitch because only a few games have good APP.
