So we are clear

Correct me if I made an error, because these numbers are insane.
So I decided to see just how much energy is in fat. First I converted pounds to grams, and according to wikipedia 37.8 kilojoules of energy in each gram of fat. Then to put that into perspective, kilojoules to foot-pounds. As an example I used 40lbs of fat, the result, 685843 kilojoules. Which to put into perspective, is enough energy to lift one ton about 48 miles. Really puts into perspective what it actually takes to lose weight.

So then all we have to do to reach the speed of light is give all of America lipo!
Just checking the math a bit, but one Calorie is actually one kilocalorie, or 1000 times the energy needed to raise one milliliter (or cubic centimeter) of water 1 degree centigrade. Now there are nine Calories in a gram of fat, so one gram of fat could take one CC from the freezing point all the way to 9000 degrees. Or in other terms, it could raise the temperature of a liter of water 9 degrees. I'll have to say that IS a scary amount of energy. On the other hand, what's scarier is that our bodies need all that. I thought car engines were inefficient. A 2000-Calorie diet means that we're daily consuming enough energy to raise a liter of water 2000 degrees, assuming no phase change, or a two-liter bottle of water to ten times the boiling point from freezing, or boil roughly 5.28 gallons of water from freezing for my fellow Americans. That's essentially a small kitchen garbage can.

To make a less impressive analogy, I believe an average human uses an amount of energy on par with a 40-watt incandescent light bulb left on constantly. Or 60-watt, I can't remember. Wooo light bulbs!
However yes, fatties are dangerous. |

Fatties are dangerous, that's why they have weight classes in martial arts.
