I decided to give the whole thing the go-ahead, and holy shit it's awesome.
Character customization is... well, pretty damn deep, especially with the perks. I hear Fallout 2 is even more insane in this aspect. I ended up making a nice-guy character based on sweet-talking and diplomacy, with a inclination for conventional weapons... I'm basically Jesus, but with bullets and lasers! And a chainsaw and a sword that is on fire. No, I'm not kidding. The amount of stuff you can do here is insane, and it seems like there's tons more options depending on how you play. I mean, seriously, holy shit. I've fought literal Fire Ants, disarmed a nuke, and even had an Interview With a Vampire. Also, I've killed enough mole rats to make Rufus cry. I really wish VATS was in actual FPS's, but such a thing would be stupidly broken in multiplayer. The only complaint I have with the game is that I always seem to get too much shit to carry. It wasn't so bad in the Super Duper Mart, but now it's just getting retarded. Thank ye gods for booze and meds to up my capacity a bit. Anywho, what's your thoughts? Be wary of spoilers, though(For reference, main-plot wise I've barely left Megaton, although in this game it applies to not as much as I thought). |

Objectively The Third Worst

If you can't really think of anything in particular to remove, a good place to start is ammo. .5 weight for those rounds might seem trivial, but it really adds up when you're in the hundreds of bullets.

Are you sure Ammo has weight? It's always showed up as "--" weight. I might have to test that.
And yes, I did use a locker next to the workbench I had in my place. It's a godsend, especially now that I have schematics. EDIT: Tested the ammo by stuffing it in a locker. No change in weight. So yeah, "--" means no weight at all. Last edited by Donomni; 08-07-2010 at 04:41 PM. |

grthwllms is so used to FWE that he forgot the unmodded game exists.
Edit: I'm playing through it again with MINIMAL mods to switch it up from the last time I ran through it. FWE, Weapon Mod Kits as well as Owned! and FNNCQ because I never tried them before. Edit 2: Donomni here are items you will want to scrounge from the wastes, collecting them and never letting go: Nuka Cola Quantum Pre-War Books Scrap Metal Chinese Assault Rifles Power armor + Energy Weapons + Any Advance Technology Seriously if you run across one of these things grab it and stuff it into your house with the millions of others because you will need every single one you can get your hands on. Quantum especially I had to use a guide the first time just to scrounge enough to finish the quest. Pre-War Books you can later trade to a special NPC for huge profit, Scrap Metal can be traded special to a handful of NPCs for different bonuses. Chinese Assault Rifles are sort of the same deal but you give them to a trader until he has enough to expand his inventory. All the technology based ones at the end can be traded to the Outcasts for stimpacks and frag grenades. (Also 556 ammo) Also are you playing this on the PC or a console?

I solved the carry capacity with companions, I used them as pack mules more then anything. Just dont give them ammo or gernades, I repeat DONT GIVE THEM GERNADES. They will toss them at enemies three feet from you without a second thought.
Oh and add to DFM's list, all unique weapons. For obvious reasons.

Console, the PS3. There's no way in hell my PC can run it.
Also, fuuuuck on the Quantums. I was making grenades from those. |

It's not really worth doing the quest unless you're going to find every goddamn quantum ever, and/or get the perk to make normal nuka cola into quantum, anyway.
All you get is another quantum schematic which doubles your grenade output but, unless you use the console to unlock the bitch's fridge and get them back, you can never have those 30 quantum back. Ever. Thus, you need to find at least 46 bottles of quantum to make it worthwhile (30 for the quest, 15 to get up to the 30 'nades you could have made, and one extra to actually make a grenade profit). Assuming I remember the number needed for the quest right.

Or if you have the Game of the Year edition wait until you have the Quantum Chemist perk and have all the Quantums you could want.

Nah, I just have the standard edition(Was on sale for 9 bucks), I was gonna get the DLC later.
As for the Quantums, I made 5 grenades with them, and also used 1 normally until I found out you use them to make shit. |
