Well it's been 4 years since TV stations announced the death of analog format. And 1 year since they started killing the feed.
You know I thought I was unaffected by it but it seems like the analog death wave finally hit my area and my TV by my shock isn't a Digital TV... fuck... So how have you guys been handling the big change? Do you think it's worth it? Cause the fact that I now have to fork out for a $199+ LCD Digital TV (saw the price for some converters and well might as well buy a new TV If I have to fork over hundreds for one) Kinda of pisses me off. Yeah I could watch TV on my parent's Digital TVs but I kinda like the luxury of watching TV in my room. So much for getting a Wii/360/PS3 this year...

If you had paid attention like 2 years ago you would've been able to buy a Digital-to-Analog Converter on the cheap. Comcast has free boxes for customers. Do your parents have Cable/ Satalite? Ask them if the cable company will provide a complimentary box for you.

In that clinging to old infrastructures simply because it would cause some inconvenience to replace them with something much better is stupid, yes I think it is worth it.

If you want a PS3 or 360, you should probably get a HD TV, ANYWAY, so.

The thing was that I could have sworn my TV was Digital. When the change was made my TV was unaffected despite almost everyone else's analog being killed. Which got me to believe mines was a Digital. Till today anyway. It's not that I won't buy one (would have to eventually anyway) It's just that we're in a situation where getting a new TV is almost laughably impossible (largely due to almost no one hiring me despite meeting every requirement and being first in the interviews). Money is tight for me. My only hope in getting up to date with my TV is hoping I land work at a super store. That and well, I need a new desk top set up (PC, Monitor, Keyboard, and Mouse). So I'm already going to have to replace around $500+ worth of stuff as is.

And yes, you have to get the converters for any TV that doesn't already have a Comcast Digital box, HD box, or DVR box attached to it. This is because the digital signal that will be fed to your house will be scrambled and the digital converter boxes are more or less glorified de-scrambler boxes. If you wanted to look at it from a social engineering perspective, Comcast is eking out some extra profits from people who have more than three TV's in their house. Teach you people to go put a damn TV in every damn room, patio, and toilet in your houses. I had to listen to four people bitch today because they had between ten and fifteen TV's in their house and they had to pay extra for each adapter beyond the first few. Who the fuck has fifteen TV's, a house to hold them all in, and still finds time to complain about their cable bill going up twenty or thirty bucks so that all their shit works? |

Yes, I forgot to mention that. Any TV without a digital adapter will still be able to receive the basic 2-23ish channels until Comcast decides to move those to digital as well.
