So, apparently Gawker Media has had their database of all usernames and passwords compromised, and supposedly it has all been decrypted and posted in a text file as a torrent. If anyone has an account there, it's suggested to change your info, as well as the info of any accounts that share information as on any of the gawker sites.

Thanks for posting. I don't even remember my old account password, and I didn't associate an e-mail address with my account either, so it's not recorded in a confirmation e-mail either. I can't find a function on the site to send forgotten passwords either. Augh.

Also a good lesson in why password reuse is bad.

I've changed all passwords (Just since, you know, I've had them for awhile), but I feel like I'm forgetting somewhere. Can't think of where, though.

On the one hand, I'm happy to see something bad happen to Gawker and its sister sites. On the other hand, it sucks it happened at the expense of people's privacy.

I hate/et cetera Gawker, but Kotaku/io9 are decent enough, it seems. I've got an account there, and thankfully had the foresight to split passwords up in terms of security/use. If it was a site that ever has information that can bill me, it's got a unique password. At least I -think- so. Which is why I went around and changed all my passwords, since I didn't remember some of my older ones.

Even after I learned, grew up, and came to be on the right side of a lot of important issues, I was still angry, abrasive, and generally increased the amount of hate in the world, in pretty unacceptable ways. On the off chance that someone is taking a trip down memory lane looking through those old threads, I wanted to devote my signature to say directly to you, I'm sorry.
