So, I'm down visiting my family for the holidays, but I can't stand putting up with them for too long. That's where my PSP comes in. I just beat MGS on it and am looking for another game to download and play.
The first inclination of many will be to recommend a PSX game, and while you certainly can, I'd prefer recommendations for actual PSP games, if possible. I've been looking at Corpse Party and Fate/EXTRA, for example, but I'm not sure I want to spend that much on Corpse Party cuz I don't know how much I'll like it. Anywho, throw recommendations my way if you can. ALSO: If there is even the slightest bit of homophobia in the game, LET ME KNOW BEFOREHAND. Even if you "didn't think it was that bad" or thought "it's all in good fun" or whatever, LET ME KNOW BEFOREHAND. I'm growing increasingly unable to cope with this stuff in games, and prefer to avoid it, and if I encounter it in the game you recommend I will be an angry grumpy asshole and probably won't finish the game. IDEALLY, I WOULD LIKE TO AVOID WASTING MONEY LIKE THAT. Perhaps the caps seem unnecessary, but I don't really know any other way of conveying that this shit is kind of a big fucking deal to me and I really, really want to avoid it. Anyway, thanks in advance for any recommendations you offer.

Never had a PSP, but the Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot series for PSX (don't go any later than that, once they went beyond that console both series went to shit) are awesome. Also Ape Escape if they offer that.
EDIT: I don't think there's any homophobia in either series, since those games are so old school (and kid friendly) they don't even begin to go into that field of discussion. EDIT2: Looked up on the list. Looks like only the Spyro series and 3 games from the Crash series are available from my recommendations. I'd say go for it, except for maybe Crash Team Racing if you aren't into that genre. Kinda bullshit that they don't have Crash Bandicoot: Warped. Last edited by Aldurin; 12-18-2011 at 02:54 AM. |

Are you talking Minis, or full PSP titles? I don't have a lot of experience with the Minis.
Have you played Half-Minute Hero? I find a good way to kill an hour or so every so often. Harvest Moon games are always tons of (Serious) Fun* and I know there are a few PSP ones on the store. Powerstone Collection is good fun, and either one of the Prinny games are fun (If a bit frustrating) as well if you like Disgaea and it's humor. Maybe you could pick up the PSP version of Symphony of the Night, I think it is on the store. Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together is a longer game that you probably already own that you should play if you don't. * LOL NATSUME JOKE.

I played the first Prinny game and wasn't a big fan of it. It combined Castlevania-style jumping mechanics with even more ~stuff~ and then expected you to be better at it than Castlevania did and blaaaaargh. Quote:

I'm gonna recommend giving Power Stone a second thought, it's pretty good.
I think there is a PSP version of a game called Hoard which is about being a greedy dragon and lighting things on fire so check that out.

In the short time I had a PSP (it's my cousin's) I got to play Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast, it's a fun arcade driving (not racing, really, and I like it for that) game.
I'm not sure if it's downloadable since, IIRC, SEGA doesn't have the Ferrari license anymore but, if it's there, I think it's worth trying it.

If you are looking for something quick to play maybe go with Super Stardust Portable or Everyday Shooter. Age of Zombies is a Twin Stick shooter that a friend of mine recommended, but I never picked up.
It might help if you actually told us what you were in the mood for.

I don't typically download games for my PSP, so I'm not aware of what's currently available. However, the following PSP titles are pretty good...
Daxter. About as challenging as Jak 2, but admittedly, falls short on story. Great gameplay however. Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier. Decent play in the Jak sections. The flight sim thing is lacking in play value. Still, not bad. God of War games for PSP. Like God of War? Get them, otherwise skip. Ghost of Sparta has a better story & better play overall. Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters. Pretty much like any other R&C game. Might be worth your time. As for the PSP Metal Gear, are we talking about Peace Walker, Portable Ops, or one of the Acid games? If it isn't Peace Walker, you should get that game. Portable Ops, well that isn't half bad, considering the PSP lineup. Never tried either Acid game.

I strongly recommend against this, since both this game and Secret Agent Clank are trying to be in the spirit of the series, but since both games were outsourced outside of Insomniac for development neither one just has the good qualities of a Ratchet and Clank game. It's the gaming equivalent of looking at a forgery of a painting, and not exactly a very good forgery at that.

The second one improves on the gameplay a bunch and has a more interesting art style, but the characters aren't as memorable. Story is still really fun though. I like it. Sorry I'm so unhelpful in recommending stuff to me, everybody, but I really do appreciate your recommendations.
