So, looking at the original thread, the issue was acknowledged and everything was fine and dandy, and then people started to argue about what people find offensive, and what's offensive to the LGBT community, and things probably got out of hand but it's hard to tell since a lot of posts were most likely deleted. So I have a few questions.

1) This happened three weeks ago, why post about it now?

2) Why get into such a heated argument in the Localization Feedback forum, where such an argument has no place being?

3) Your ban was for 10 days but then I guess they decided to make it a permanent ban? But still, looking at this, it seems that it's only a forum ban? Or did they end up perma-banning your account from everything?

Because if it's just a forum ban, big whoop, official forums for anything are cesspits. If it's for everything, then yeah, something is definitely fishy.

My post was like the third post in the original thread. Someone started a thread saying, "Hey, making a 'This woman is actually a dude!' joke via an achievement named after the Crying Game is kinda shitty. I was trying to make the point of why it was transphobic to someone who argued it wasn't and adding my voice to those wanting the shitty joke changed. I'm not sure what about my post reads as heated argument or aggressive but okay. Posting about it now cuz I just barely worked up the nerve to try and get them to actually clarify why I was banned. (EDIT: Also just because, to be perfectly honest, I'm really upset about this and it's fucking with me a lot emotionally and I kinda wanted to vent hoping getting it off my chest would help)

The thing is, no I'm not inclined to regularly interact with forums cuz they are a cesspool. But 1. I shouldn't have to deal with the forums being a cesspool and 2. The forums are the main point of contact players have with the devs and localization team. So, say, if they make another shitty transphobic joke in FFXIV, my avenue for saying, "Hey, this is shitty," is cut off.

Fuck if I know their forum policy regarding bans but the very first post a dev made on the thread was "we're sorry we fucked up, we're going to fix it" so at least the problem should be fixed.

...And, clearly, even if the forums are a cesspool and you got lashed out at and banned, I doubt you were the only person banned and the devs did notice and did apologize and did say they'd fix it. If the mods over the forums are bad that's a different thing altogether.

According to the linked rules/guidelines, they basically have, at each moderator's discretion, the groundwork to ban forum accounts for any criticism, swearing, and talking out against decisions made by devs, each of which are reasons I am assuming some moderator account used against your post noted in the report.

I've gotten various infractions on GW2's forum but no ban yet. Also eventually the community pushback against the moderating style mellowed them out, so while they do close threads more often than they should and randomly merge shit they aren't shutting people up for having negative opinions about the game like they used to do. It sounds like Square's staff go a little over-board?

I dunno, I don't read their forum, play their game, or have any intention to go over there and read any of this.

So congrats on getting banned by strict mods from the forums of a game you don't intend to play anymore anyway, I guess.

I don't have a copy of the email I'm not showing cuz I sent the email through a thing on their site. If I had a copy I would show it.

Thing is, since they did actually change the transphobic achievement, I was gonna play. In fact, I got the email informing me I was banned the same day I was thinking I'd ask Mick if I could resubscribe.
