I don't know if anyone else has been noticing this, but lately a lot of people have been using ridiculous exaggeration, specifically exaggerating the range of things an action or actions applies to. Take this tweet from Jeph Jacques.
"Time to write all the scripts #AllofThem" I have seen a lot of writers, webcomic artists, etc using this in informal situations (ie: Twitter, blogs). I think, and I say this in the least presumptuous way possible, that it is because of me. You see, some time ago I was sitting with some people waiting for the bus. I vaguely knew them, and for some reason they were discussing how many girls they had each slept with. Finally they turned to me and said "Pete, how many girls have you had sex with?" I turned to them with an utterly straight face and intoned dramatically "All of them." Since then, I have started saying similar things (akin to the aforementioned quote from Jacques), and it slowly spread through my friends and people I associate with. It was several months after it began spreading that I noticed many people using it. I am a pop culture icon. |
