Question about Black Mage

He likes White Mage because she's the embodiment of everything that he isn't, he's the universal butt monkey who causes suffering and death everywhere he goes, and she is one of the few characters who actually changes the world for the good whenever she shows up.

At the same time, they're also similar, being both mages traveling with an idiot, and despite whatever intelligent plans or human desires they have in mind, the world unravels them. For instance, BM just wanted to obtain god powers precisely so the world couldn't fuck with him any more, while WM just wanted to fulfill her duties in the prophecy of the Light Warriors and save the world. BM's god powers are nerfed everytime they show up, and WM's Light Warriors World Destruction Tour (tm) is arguably THE WORST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE WORLD. EVER.

In summation, they're similar, competent in their respective magics but doomed by plot to a degree of failure, and surrounded by morons (and susceptible to being moronic themselves on occasion) but their talents and fates cancel each other out, undoing the other's work so they really can't be together.

I do think he liked Kary, even if she took the "kill" minion bit too seriously, especially because she killed Black Belt.
