So, in the timeless song "You are So Vain" by Carly simon, when she sings

"You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't You? Don't You? "

if the subject of the song was for the song not to be about whoever "You" is supposed to be, doesn't making the chorus " I'll bet you think this song is about you" automatically makes the song about "you"?

These are the deep thoughts that bring me awake from sound sleep deep into the night... we just may never know.
