See, now, everytime one of these types of threads pop up, I always want to make a Basic Anti-Racism thread, but then, I just KNOW someone will take it as some kind of passive-Agressive douchery on my part, since my involvements in these threads usually devolves into frustrating discussions, and then We'll have drama.

However, i would play devil's advocate for a second here to point out that even though Prejudice in general is a stupid rationalization that we all do in some level, i dislike how we usually deal with it...

Like Women's rights... now, now... hold on. I'm referring to the notion that Harming a woman is a greater offense than harming a man, i mean, Me going out to hurt anyone should be a serious offense. Doesn't really matter if they are gay, women, jew, black or whatever... i'm not supposed to go out hurting people. Period.

It's not like Child Protection laws, because kids in general (not all, but the majority) can't process and discern like Adults, so they are a real example of exception.

See? See that right there? It also makes me want to do a thread for Sexism,(although in truth my knowledge of sexism is secondary to my knowledge of racism and I'm not a "professional" in either regard, just an avid hobbyist of sorts >.<)

Until comparatively recently in human history, Bells, it was considered more okay--or at least less wrong--for a man to beat his wife than it was for him to, say, get in a fight with some other guy at a bar.

I know it kind of seems like "aw man, women're getting special laws and rights just for them, and that's not fair!" But the fact is that for much of human history women have already had a sort of "special law" apply to them, even when on paper it purports to apply to them equally--and that law amounts to "women will get the shit beat out of them and murdered regularly, because, well, maybe she shouldnt've burned the pot roast, I dunno, and whoever did it maybe gets the judge to wag his finger at him disapprovingly, at worst". All those "special laws" are just trying to make the law do what it's supposed to do already, because left by itself the law was (and in many places and many ways, still is) hopelessly broken.

My mother used to be a victim's advocate, and it was distressing how ill equipped and just... well... terrible the police and hospital were at helping women who had been abused by their spouses or had been raped. Treating it like it's worse to hurt a women or minority exists to actually make things balanced out, and it rarely even does that.
