Ask yourself, have you ever heard that term used in any way whatsoever that wasn't plainly insulting or fetishistic? I'd wager you have not. On the very slight off-chance you have, I'd wager that makes up a very, very small amount of the time. Unless you know someone who others would use that term for and who self-identifies with that term, you should never use it. You see, (being generally ignorant on the subject as I've nver had the pleasure of meeting one, to the best of my knowledge) I thought there was some division between women who identified as a female in terms of gender but kept their original biological parts (who would not be referred to by that term and would be a woman) and a person who wanted to be simultaneously "male and female" for the purposes of appealing to the fetish or because that was actually their preferred biological hybrid-form or something.

...But seriously, precisely because it's not something I've felt compelled to consider or talk about before, and because it tends to be a taboo subject to discuss in a serious, non-fetishistic context, it's just not something I've ever analyzed in terms of whether using the word was inappropriate. So, good to know.
