Let's Play FF6 3: The Revenge

Avoiding battles isn't as much of an issue when I'm not recording it. See, when I'm trying to make a video that doesn't suck, I have to remove all of the fights using Windows Moviemaker. Every battle that has to be removed takes a good bit of blood, sweat and tears after wrestling with WMM, and often mistakes that are made are nearly impossible to fix thanks to the fact that you need to export the entire movie to add more than one audio layer.

So... I'll be fine with the battles when I use screenshots again. (Next chapter is this week by the way, but I've got a lab and a midterm to prepare for so it'll be tuesday night at the very earliest.) If I can use turbo to make stuff go 5x speed it isn't nearly as painful to repeat every time.

Uhm... yeah, I kinda forgot to post... I've taken some screenshots already (I had a bit of free time) though the next chapter won't be up tonight because I only have like 30 or so. That's less than half a chapter.

At the time that I started, the votes were:

...So the other 2 party members I chose were Eunuch and Hefner. We did side-quests and went on a flashback tour. It was neat.

A bit of Floating Continent will be in the chapter as well though, I think. I'm accepting votes for this.

CHAPTER 26 BEGINS!



Here's the temporary party setup from earlier. Before we head to the scene of the heist, we have a few matters to attend to.

I mean, we'll be coming back, of course. Why wouldn't we? It's not like the world's going to end while we're up there. But still, first things first.

We need to visit towns.



South Figaro, recently un-occupied thanks to our own undeniable charm and backbreaking labour.



Jack shit has changed except that one soldier forgot to take his Magitek armour with him.



No one has learned a thing from the event.



Tzen was also occupied, but it exists on the Imperial continent. I think they have good weapons or something. I forget.



At least they acknowledge that something is different.

Also, I bought an esper from a shady man in the trees.



Ah, Vector! The imperial capital!



Still on fire. Very, very on fire.

I went up as far as the palace entrance and didn't find a single living person. They must have all moved up to their new continent in the sky!

Oh, by the way, I'm pretty sure the Returners are all dead because the Empire betrayed us. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned. Eunuch and peeps stayed behind to "make sure they didn't try anything funny," but they tried something funny anyway and our party only escaped because Eunuch got friendly with a random woman somewhere who told them. And then they ran away and left Banon, Arvis, etc to die.

Eunuch needs to grow a pair. He could have fought them all off by himself.



Maranda is somewhere on the Imperial continent too. It's not all that important a city.



It is also no longer occupied. Nobody thanks me for this.



Husband? Sick? Hey, I vaguely remember a sidequest now!



Remember Mobliz, right near the Veldt? And there was this one guy who had some woman he liked back in Maranda!



We will read letters for him because it is the nice thing to do.



If only his girlfriend, who sent letters, was not so much of a whiny bitch.

Regardless. He'll probably reward us or something if we help him, so...



We have to pay for postage and everything. What a stupid quest.

After you do a few random things (specifically, talk with every shop owner, sleep, and listen to a scholar ramble about the Serpent's Trench) the woman will send another letter bitching about something she wishes she had. You send it to her again, do the things again, get another letter and repeat ad nauseum.

The reward you get is the Cat's Bell (called something else in this version, I think) which heals you as you walk. It's not nearly as good as it sounds. Fuck this quest. We're going somewhere else.



Now THAT'S a worthy sidequest.

Wasn't Hef looking for more employees anyway?

Oh, speaking of Hef!



We found a relic somewhere called Heiji's Jitte. Dunno what that's supposed to mean. But anyway, if Hef equips it, his Slot ability becomes Gil Toss.



He throws coins at enemies. It takes away from our total amount of gil, but it hits all enemies.



Not a whole lot of damage. Slot is better. It has a chance to one-hit kill all enemies and doesn't cost money to use.

Anyway, on with the world tour.



Albrook is unoccupied, and also a little darker for some reason.



Oh. That's why.



Stop whining, at least you aren't "The Occupied City" anymore. And who do you have to thank for that? Me! I'm also going to go blow up that island, and I expect some thanks when I come back down having saved the world from destruction.



There are fewer prostitutes in this town than there used to be.



Hey, remember the Imperial Outpost? It's looking a little less useful now that the bridge doesn't lead anywhere.



But hey, at least they left the door to the treasure room unlocked.



So... every sidequest is accomplished that's worth doing, and every town in the game that's different has been visited.



Not much else to do.



Procrastination over!



So the voting for the final party was unanimous. By which I mean, only two people voted and only one voted for more than one person. Screw you guys.



We're entering Venom Floating Continent airspace! Keep your wits about you!

Random battles occur henceforth. They are mostly pointless.

Legend of Zelda redux!!



Okay, so it doesn't do huge damage... but it doesn't need to because Esper Terra does 9999 damage with Firaga.



Hahaha... flying chickens...



A perfect landing! It's a good thing Mr. T is such a nice guy. Half a meter either way and we would've fallen to our deaths. He could not have done that unintentionally.



This is it! The last mission of the game!



Lucky enough, we have more backup. NINJA backup.

And that's it for the chapter! That's also as far as I made it on my first playthrough of the game. I got slightly farther on my second but we're approaching the stuff that's new for me. Let's hope that goes well...

Death to Cid! It makes Celes' plight all dramatic and shit. The game clearly intends for him to die. I mean what do you get if you save him? They go "Herp derp see you later" and then never talk again.
