I beat this game in three days a decade ago because I rented it, it was pretty epic.

Default The First Post was a prologue, here is the first chapter.

Someday I will find my father...

Not fall behind? It's the end of the school year.

We're not children sir. I've been on more adventures in my 15 years of life then you have ever. And incase you haven't noticed, the only child here with both parents is Eric and they are incredibly overprotective.

That's Seth, the unofficial brain of our small group. If it's reciting the history of the country, or doing advanced mathematics, Seth is in his niche. Given how his home life is though, the academia could be filling a void.

Eric, the child of our group. Despite him being 13, he still has several mannerism's of a young boy. It could be how his parents pamper him however considering his father is a regional manager for the Roleck corporation.

While Eric is a good kid, he doesn't know tact. Many times I've had to hold Lance back from beating up Eric.

Lance is my closest friend. The one person I consider my brother. Lance's father went with my father's party to the tower and was sadly, one of the people who went missing. I know Lance doesn't blame me, or is angry at me for being one of the only survivors, but it doesn't help that I blame myself.

No you can't stop me. Since I've returned from Babel, i've seemed stronger, more durable. When that last flu went around, only me and my Grandfather were fine.

Though I won't lie. It is still scary to jump from a 2 story building.

Not only is it filled with the aroma of my grandmother's unique cooking, but this was one of the first buildings that was built in South Cape. For the longest time, all the travelers lived under this roof as their homes were erected.

My grandmother. I can't really say to much about her as she is somewhat quiet and reserved about herself. According to grandpa, my grandma lived with gypsies and grandpa once saved her life. But she has never told me so for all I know he is pulling a joke on me.

My parents. Olman and Mona. After my father went missing, my mom fell ill and sadly passed away. At first I blamed myself, thinking it had to do something with my trip but that isn't the truth.

I miss my parents so much...

My grandfather. The cornerstone of the community. Despite his age, he remains an active role, often advising Eric's father on what needs to be done, or where certain things needs to be placed. Grandpa is quite awesome.

Although he was a fighter, my grandpa placed academics as a high priority. That is why he said I was to go with my dad on his last adventure.

Probably talking about the Rolek merchants that have been passing through. I've been hearing odd stories about them regarding human labourers or mining for odd items. Of course Eric's father won't say anything.

For god sakes. I am not a child. I am fifteen years old. I am not a child anymore.

It's not the house people are jealous of. it's your vast wealth.

If memory serves. Rolek set this place up as a trading post and after a while you sort of conjugated to the rest of the building and moved the Trading post to the edge of town.

Oh yes I'm sure ordering the help around is such tedious work.

Lance's mom is a very sick woman. She always has been. But even in her failing health, she likes to be independent. Alot of people chastise Lance's father for leaving her to go on that journey, but I know she sent him. She didn't want her husband to miss out on an adventure of a life time. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

Miss, you don't know the half of it.

I may have a high pain tolerance, but getting smacked in the forehead really is a nuisance.

Let me tell you something about Seth's parents. His father is a gambler and has been known to blow entire paychecks on card games while the mother is an alcoholic. Seth said he once came home and saw his mom half naked passed out on the couch with several bottles of booze around her. Seth says he wants to become a scholar and leave to go to Euro one day.

I feel so bad for him.

God I need to think before I go back to the area. The scent of booze permeates so much from that place, you can easily become drunk by the fumes themselves. But I know just the place to clear my ahead before I meet up with the others.

The rooftop of the school. The highest point of the town and gives me a splendid view of the ocean. I come here to think when I need to.

But I must question. What the hell is this?

::Alright the first real post of chapter 1. What do you guys think? Also, anything regarding red jewels, I'll show in a supplementary post.

I bought a copy of this game while I was still in college, and I never got to beat it. Sadly, all my files were erased the last time I played. Apparently, I was so angry when I lost to the Mummy Queen for the millionth time that I yanked the game out and threw it before I turned off the SNES. The only other game that frustrated me that much was Legacy of the Wizard for the NES.

I like your narrative, though, Mac.

This game rocks so hard. My niece got bored and dug out the SNES the other day and when she was done with it I spent hours going through my old games to see which saves survived. I think I may try and play along with this LP if I can arrange some steady access to my old games. I remember the castle you wake up in after the airplane incident being creepy as fuck

You're doing a good job. Not too melodramatic, not too "Let's-make-a-joke-about-everything," just the game for what it is.

=DDDDDDDDDDDD

This is one of my favorite games ever in the whole of ever, even though I got stuck on the very first boss for, quite literally, several years ...

But yeah. Great game, good LP so far.

Man, I love that game. Only ever found one crown as a kid though (the pet's one). Then a couple years ago I was reading through the four Nintendo Power magazines that I own, and.... They had a map! Basically, it shows the recommended path you should take for each of the family members. Doesn't give too much away, doesn't solve the puzzles for you, and doesn't ruin the game like a guide would, but it allowed me to beat the game. I suppose I could have taken the (long) time to map it out myself... I looked online and can't find the map anywhere... And after I bought all my friend's gaming stuff, I got a whole bunch more Nintendo Power, and I don't remember which one it was in...

Anyway, about the let's play... I don't suppose it's possible to put maybe two or three pictures side-by-side? Give it more of a comic book feel or something. It gets a little long, with a whole lotta scrolling is all. Great game though, haven't played it in a while!

*Gonna be a big one*

"Maybe later. I gotta get to the cave.

Wheee

South Cape docks. While it doesn't look like much, during the peak season, this place is busy.

Sadly the fishing is not what it used to be.

Our hideout. Our second home. Quite cozy where we can just escape it all.

I was only a few minutes late. You couldn't wait?

And Seth has...

Absolutely nothing.

Jeez. Eric looks like he's seen a ghost. Or a list of chores.

It has to be for you to be running.

...

That's it? Goddammit Eric. That's not important. It's boring.

If it's who I'm thinking of then Eric has no chance. She's like 3 years older then him.

Hahahahaha. Don't get so defensive Eric.

Nice subject change

Oh quit pouting and sit down.

Or the girls think your a book worm Seth. I kid I kid.

No one cares Eric.

Talk about life, dreams and hope. Wonder where they come from, and where they go. Or we can play cards. I like the second option myself.

Of course you do Eric.

Everyone's seen it already Eric and we don't care. It's a cool ability, but impractical.

Et tu Brute?

Fine I'll be your dancing monkey.

To be continued...
