I was going to bitch about the first one ripping off Sonic 1 too hard, but then it mixed it up... a little. Still ripping off Sonic 1 too hard, but at least it's not 100% the same. Prettier, too.

Because generally when I'm excited for a new game, it has to be a new game. The mine cart thing is new... but pure shit.

I can understand that, but this is Sonic after all. People have been clamoring for it to return to its roots for ... well, quite awhile, and now that they appear to be doing exactly that, there are complaints about how it's too similar?

Am I out of line in asking for a little consistency?

When I clamor for a Sonic game to return to its roots, I mean I want it to be 2D again. I do not mean "The first boss of the game should be the exact same as the first boss of the first game." There's a noticeable difference. If I wanted to play Sonic 1, I've got Sonic 1 right here. I can play it whenever I want.

EDIT: Seeing the other stuff, the game is obviously more than just a remake, but that mine cart thing made me nauseous, and not in the "this is so bad I'm gonna be sick" way, but the "argh this is worse than a five hour car drive" way. No game has ever done that to me before.

Still it's pretty nice Sonic 1 remake, I'll give it that.

and most of the new Sonic fans won't even notice that at all till some one points it out.

I'm going to say that each episode is like a remake of that game. (ep 1 is sonic 1, ep 2 is sonic 2, ect) with the last ep being entirely new stages. Which makes me won't to buy but not that badly.

~But~ Yeah sonic is now officially ruined forever. It will never sell well again regardless of how good it's newer games might be.
