So I just rented EDF IA after a quick visit to my grandparents house, and I'm totally hooked on the game so far. I remembered hearing great things about the first one, as well as Clevinger's glowing review of his playtime with the sequel, so I figured "Sure why not, check this out."
And I gotta say, the level of insanity this game brings to the table is great. At any given moment you can have dozens of ants ten times your size attacking you from all directions, and while you have unlimited ammo your clip sizes are rather small (35 round clips on a gun that fires 10 rounds a second, and it takes 3 seconds to reload). Been playing through solo player for the last hour or so, and the game has steadily progressed the difficulty of the enemies I'm fighting without feeling like I'm being babied with wimpy enemies nor that it is becoming too difficult too fast. I am a sucker for the Battle Armor so far, simply because any class that excels in miniguns, rockets, and shotguns is instantly the best class. |

This is a very casual shooter, but I'm loving it. Probably sunk about 20 hours into it total right now, my main is Rank 6, and I'm starting to work the Inferno levels.
Since I was addicted to the ZERA-GUN from EDF 2017, I use Tactical now as a main. Jet gets a close second though, because, well, jetpacks. EDIT: Worth noting that I found the game pretty dry to start, when your soldier is low rank. There's also way less missions in this than 2017, and that was a bit of a bummer. After rank 5+ and hitting the upper Hard levels though, pure EDF goodness. Last edited by Azisien; 08-03-2011 at 12:54 AM. |
