Yet another person who failed to set an account on these forums before the end.
I am absolutely delighted with the ending. It closed all questions about the future of most characters (for whom the almost destruction of the universe didn't have an effect, it seems). It has been a long series. 1225comics (not including filler) and overall, I have mixed emotions. Firstly, it has been brilliant, a great series of laughs and to follow the parabole of many people out there, it has effected my life. I wasn't depressed or some such, just cynical. I still am but well, how I deal with the world has changed simply from the antics of four destructive adventurers...and several morons, and some geniuses. The comic has provided so much amusement over the time it has run, and provided such capability of being a long, comedic series without descending into not being very funny, as many sketch shows do (just to use a comedic genre, I'm not calling 8-bit a sketch show). The epilogue perfectly closed loose ends, as I said, but it also honoured the style, providing the same brands of humour and strangeness. Along with jokes that weren't possible with sprites. On the other hand, I'm very sad to see it end, but it must. Like preserving an old dog's life, you want to, you want as much time as possible with your old friend but it's cruel to keep it alive and it needs to end. However, like many great things, I'm sure fans will produce various fanfics or other such items, and some may attain to the high (actually, I'm not sure whether 8bit was high brow) standards I've come to find. Those will amuse me. Still - if anyone wants to necro this series, go animate every comic past 36 (since up to that point has been put into amimated episodes). There, I've just filled your life for a few years. In fact, if you want to really go the full mile, animate in speroni-style. Go on, I dare you, surpass your master and comedian. |

I'll admit I did cry a bit (manly tears) when I read it. Hard to believe it's really over.
All I can say is thank you Brian, Matt, Jeff and everyone even remotely involved! This comic is as much a part of me as it is of you and anyone else who posted in this thread, I wish you all the very best in whatever future endeavours you may undertake. Also, am I the only one who noticed the cat coffee poster (episode 133) in the fourth panel? And who are the two individuals sitting below it? Regards. |

![]() Worst part is I must have read it 25times now and I still can't stop re-reading it. It feels like a funeral, except no one is giving out free food. Edit: It's claimed Fighter didn't change while the other characters did...Fighter has clearly changed, he can read for a start. Last edited by ThatPoorMessenger; 06-03-2010 at 07:05 AM. |

Well I'm glad that leaving behind the half dozen plots left unfinished is official, I was starting to worry that I might have to care again all of a sudden. Lord knows how quickly my opinion is going to be ignored once I say anything negative about anything Brian does ever, but hey.
The art was good save for the fact that everyone felt the need to have the same stupid grin on their face at all times, jokes even KIND of resembling 8-Bit are nonexistent right up until BM entered the picture (the only one who couldn't do the whole "close your eyes and smile like a buffoon" thing, coincidence?), characterization for RM and even WM sort of vanished into thin air and instead of showing any of the after-math of any of the dozens of interesting sub-plots we got to see RM doing something pointless, BM and Fighter being together because... well because, and Thief being the most boring Elven king ever. That and the whole "Let us kill all the plot threads that have been hinted from the start of this thing at the very last moment" thing I mentioned. Oh well, at least MSPA is still good. |

I don't think I can think of a plot thread that hasn't been resolved in some way. Which ones do you mean?

All the gods and avatars and their respective shenanigans and the Enlightened Warrior prophecy.

The Trickster God just did what Trickster Gods do, try to outwit people, but failed because Thief is too crafty. That's all. Megahedron may have been an actual deity or a hallucination. That was the entire point of his appearances. Enlightened Warrior prophecy, fair enough. I can only guess it's part of the whole Swordopolis plan or something. Regardless though: how much could an epilogue possibly have explained, or how? Best I can think of is something like one of those after-the-credits scenes they love so much in mainstream movie production, and 8BT strikes me as the wrong place to look for that sort of thing. |

I guess Trickster and Bahamut as divine beings know each other and Trickster, while he was in the area, just popped in to say hello and tell Bahamut about the hilarious one he pulled over on some fancypants elf just then. Always did expect more to come of that but it didn't, so it's got to be something along those lines.
