Firefly was cancelled because it was too successful. It's not that the studio is stupid, you just have to understand what their job actually is. A good show makes money, you'd think that's all they care about. But in order to reliably bring in money in the long term, a production company has to prove to its investors - and this is important - that they know what the audience wants.

Firefly breaks a lot of norms and defies genres. By virtue of being different from the average show, it becomes politically important that it does not succeed. If such an unorthodox show can bring in a lot of money, it shows that there's a lot of untapped potential in the viewing market. It means the producers can't point at a formula and say, this will work, this is what people are going to watch the most. This makes investors very nervous. They don't want to hear that no one actually knows how to make the most successful TV, that the audience can't be relied on buying a specific product.

This. No, I don't mean other people, I mean people like this. People who are all Nihilistic about everything. Like seriously? Just fucking deal with it and enjoy life.

Some of my friends are really trying to push me into going to church even though I keep telling them that I don't really have any interest in it. Sure, I'm a Christian but I just have no interest in going somewhere where the people are so set in their beliefs that they can't even begin to understand why people would want to figure things out on their own.

The other day I lost it on some people when they tried to explain to me how "our God is a jealous one who wants all our love to himself" and this just bugged me. I resolved to let it go but I reached the breaking point when someone, I think he was a pastor, delved into how "our God" does not love indiscriminately and that his love is not unconditional. What had been said to me was just so contradictory to what they themselves believe that I just told them "screw your god, I'll find my own."

at times my family just drives me nuts. My brother can be such a dick at times but thankfully that comes in predictable periods where he is already tired and been in shit all day. the best thing to deal with his is to get him to do something to release stress preferably with alcohol like Bowling.
My Mother is nagging but only when I really am being lazy. however she does tend to over react to little things and trying to cool here down is much much harder then actually doing what she wants in the first place. like we have a Patch of poison ivy that the dogs (for some reason) think is a nice place to play in. Needless to say they come in being itchy and can make anyone they brush up with itchy. My mother instantly thinks it's ticks or fleas. trying to reason with her will only lead to frustration and thrown objects so it's just best to Bomb the house, wash all the wardrobes and wash the dogs in expensive anti pest shampoo (that i have to buy myself) while i sneak out at some point to poison the patch. she is also one of those people that can make anything stressful. When I have a exam I just try not to tell her for she stresses me out to the point that i can't think during the exam. She is rather nice though and very intelligent and understanding but she also has a very negative viewpoint on everything including herself making one of her favorite things to do (shopping) a constant need for a pep talk.
Then we have my Bitch sister. God i hate her. She is the most spoiled person in the family. She constantly puts down anyone within eyesight and constantly calls everyone lazy. She is a star athlete that swallows up every god damn weekend with her soccer (football) games. Seriously For a Year I couldn't spend time with ether of my parents due to her sucking them in to watching every god damn game. She also gets every god damn thing she wants from them and hasn't payed for anything she owns. Lord helps that she doesn't get her hands on any pictures, sketches, or books because she cuts them to ribbons and makes scrapbooks with them. the worst part is that She doesn't act anything like herself if anyone outside the family is near. she instead pretends to be nice and kind.
The one thing i hate about my family on a whole is that I am Always VOLUNTEERED AGAINST MY WILL TO HELP SOMEONE! Usually when I am not there to say i am busy or otherwise. Don't get me Wrong I like Helping people. but If i have to help in a INTERVENTION of someone i haven't seen in 13 years I would like to know! If I have to go across town to a show I don't want to see because they bought a ticket for me to see it I would like to Know the day they are booking instead of 3 hours before the show!!
