I thought Zero spread the original virus, but after getting his ass handed to him (See: X4 cutscene with Sigma), he more or less was free of the virus while Sigma went on to spread the virus further. I always thought that during the fight it was something more like a specific Wily Virus (Roboenza?), and after it reached Sigma it changed and became the Sigma Virus. Or something. The MM/MMX series in general has always been incredibly vague on the whole matter >.>

Then again, I think Zero gets the Wily Virus again if you screw up both missions in X5, so maybe he isn't as immune as I'm thinking >.>

As for newer, MM10 related things...

Wily Stage 1 was awesome and I'll totally admit to squeeling on the first mid-boss, though.

Just beat the game with MM on Normal, gonna try with Protoman on Hard later today. I haven't even tried Easy yet, probably won't any time soon.

Maverickism being caused by a virus was stupid, anyway. Talk about removing the Terminator vibe from the whole thing. I prefer my villains to be purposefully destroying humanity because they have free will, not being turned "insane" by a virus.

Let's just pretend that there is no virus and that it works like in Terminator. Although I suppose by that dint X shouldn't have been able to go back to the future at the end of that Megaman cartoon...what? That cartoon was rad.

Actually, Magma Dragoon in X4 makes it pretty clear that he decided to turn traitor, as opposed to just being mindless or controlled. The same is true for pretty much every boss in that one, actually... Web Spider, Iris, the Colonel and the General all express concern with being labeled mavericks.

Seriously, you'd be surprised how fucking frustrating taking double damage is for Megaman 10.

I still haven't beaten the game with Protoman on Normal. :gonk:

Not just X4 but nearly all of the MMX games after that including X8 which featured Bosses that were immune to the virus (which also pointed out Axl being immune to it as well. He can turn into sigma and not go nuts).

Well they didn't abandon it. The virus just makes less complex robotic systems go crazy, like construction bots and whatnot.
