That's an interesting idea. Still, the parallelism just seemed to... fit to me, even if he didn't seem like the other avatars. I just (personally) explained it away by a) rampant jingoism (thief is a dirty Elf), b) personality analysis (he fits with Thief's personality), c) both of the above.

Emo? It's treating it rather well, and keeping an event that I expected, and expected it to be much darker, relatively light so far.

Evil? We have been reading the same webcomic right?

Stale? I'd say this is a breath of fresh air into the comic.

To be honest, I do think it could have been done better, though I can't really say how, but overall I like it, and I've been looking forward to this moment for a while.

"Emo, evil, and stale" would probably involve more rain, more gnashing of teeth, and overwrought grimdark imagery.

So no, I don't think I can agree with you on that count.

I was refering to BM. I wouldn't have described him as evil in the past, more of a mostly harmless idiot with knives, with darker leanings, that fail on more than one level. The only truely evil thing I can think of that he's done before now, was destroy Lefin. Other than that, he's just "that" guy, who thinks his a bad ass, when he's just a dick.

Wait, nevermind. BM hasn't been truely evil until now, just a dick.

Emo was in refering to the darkness of the comic for the last week, with the overly quick deaths, no real discussion of it. It seems like Brian just might be going for the "dark is cool, and cool is dark" theme right now. It just seems too simple for this comic. There is always the slapstick, and overly hilarious gags, but it's never just simple. It's the kind of stuff that makes you think, "that was good", rather than just simply "didn't see that coming, but wtf?". It's like the Galatus thing I mentioned, it just doesn't really fit with the overall theme, and yes, I did recently go back, and reread the last 300 comics, just to make sure I had the right plot arc.

Then again, I could be totally wrong, and it is more likely than not. It just doesn't "feel" right. I'm not sure, but I can't put my finger on it, but it just "feels" like we're in for a huge set up, and the story will be turned upside down like we can't see coming.

-He broke an old man's hip
-He tricked a god into selfdestructing and nuking an entire town
-Nuked tons of innocent Dwarven Villages
-Slaughtered almost an entire town and wore their faces for shoes

I'm very sure he's done more, I'm just not remembering them all.

You're right. BM totally didn't go around burning Dwarven villages to the ground. Didn't kill Onion Kid's parents multiple times. Didn't kill a group of innocent old people. Etc.

Also, if you think Brian is doing this because "Dark is cool", I have to say you're way off the mark, at least as far as I can tell. Brian doesn't just do this entertain us. He likes to write and he enjoys telling a story. Another thing he likes is playing jokes on the audience. As I said before, the lack of a joke is the joke.

EDIT: Oh yeah... The shoes. Back when he had that little store he killed the owner to get.

Oh yeah, duh. I can't believe I forgot that. Well, ignore the rest then. I still think there's something up here, and the Light Warriors aren't over yet. Call it a gut thing. I have no basis in fact for it.
