I just started my quest for the staff of herding in earnest today. I'm about halfway done, but RNG hates me as much in this game as it does in any other >.>
On the plus side, I have the farming patterns for the remaining items down pretty well.

Just put the beat down on Nightmare Diablo. I have some gear tweaking to do but then it's time to stomp Hell.
I completely changed my build to a more tanky monk out of necessity. Since I'm still missing some of the highest level runes I currently use this build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...fXQ!XVU!ZZYYba Juggling all the debuffs and dodge bonuses with healing and invuln make it really hard to kill me. Total mob overload can still manage it though. More and more micro required out of the game. Last edited by Azisien; 05-25-2012 at 12:08 AM. |

So I lucked out and managed to get the remaining three items for my staff of herding this morning without too much trouble. Whimseyshire is a blast and well worth the effort. I didn't find anything super amazing, but then it seems that very little loot in D3 thus far is really worth mentioning.

Fuck the haters and my (hopefully not for long) terrible internet, I'm playing this anyway.
BTag is Ocelot#2892.

I'm considering stepping into hardcore later today. I feel that I have a good enough grasp of my demon hunter to give it a decent shot. I'll let you know how spectacularly I meet my inevitably early end.

It's good for the buyers, though. Very good . . .

Whelp the RMA went live earlier today and I finally had a chance to look at it.
This is my reaction after seeing the prices that people are selling their virtual make-believe shit at: "Top end" gear is selling anywhere from $50 to $250 depending on how absolutely fucking stupid the buyer is. I can't really fault the sellers because who doesn't want to make some fast money by abusing the ass-backwards retardation of a new economy. But I can not forgive any person who pays that kind of money for an item in a game.

You know, my friend raised a good point about D3's endgame.
What are you working towards? MF runs are literally just (as of now) attempts to gear for Inferno. Gold runs are the same, but indirectly via AH. Once you attain A4 inferno clearing with MF, what do you do? Sell things on the RMAH? I'm pretty sure that'd be turning the game into a job, and I've got one of those already that happens to pay more, pay regularly, and grant a lot more worthwhile skill sets. (And is still interesting because I do science to things.) Like, is anyone else having this dilemma? I can't be bothered to give much of a shit about this game. It does not feel like it should be a game we waited a decade for. (Nor one I paid $60 for.) I could go into just why it doesn't, but I'm lazy. For now.

Every game's endgame is that, yes. Then you stop playing the game.
I think what made D2 special for me was I would stop playing it after 2-4 weeks and return to it every 6-8 months for YEARS. I've currently stopped D3 for the first chunk. Will I return? If I do, I'll probably consider it living up to D2. |
