Level 59 in Hell Act 3. I'm pretty much tearing it up, though there are some champion groups that still turn it into a game of hit-and-run over infinite tank mode.
My monk is still my only character. I definitely want to reach Inferno as a primary goal, but what does everyone else think of perhaps an NPF Alt run? We could use the Steam group or something to organize a D3 event, and well, four of us could all make brand new characters and trolololol Diablo. They could even be hardcore characters, if everybody was cool with that. |

Holy balls these upcoming changes in 1.0.3 look amazing.
Just a disclaimer, today's maintenance was apparently for patch 1.0.2b, not 1.0.3. Quote:

I am really glad about this coming patch because honestly the game ended for me when I hit Inferno Act 2. I tried not to feel too bad about it because it basically ends there for everybody, but I mean it REALLY ended. I'm not even badly geared or anything.
On that note, started a Witch Doctor and Wizard, and I only use my monk now to get gold fast to gear both. |

Commodities are back up. People are still idiotic and selling gems at a loss.
Just an fyi to anyone wondering: Crafting a star from flawless squares costs 500K (plus the cost of 27 Flawless Squares, if you don't already have them). Last I checked the only profitable Star Gem was Amethysts, selling at 600K, but that's only if you already have the flawless squaress because the 15% fee drops your 600K to 510K. Everyone is just trying to undercut eachother and not bothering to sell at a profit, either because they're idiotic and thinking they're making a quick buck, or because they see the prices diving so they're trying to cut their losses, but that only makes prices dive further. Basically, the D3 economy is full of morons.

It's good for the buyers, though. Very good . . .

Whelp the RMA went live earlier today and I finally had a chance to look at it.
This is my reaction after seeing the prices that people are selling their virtual make-believe shit at: "Top end" gear is selling anywhere from $50 to $250 depending on how absolutely fucking stupid the buyer is. I can't really fault the sellers because who doesn't want to make some fast money by abusing the ass-backwards retardation of a new economy. But I can not forgive any person who pays that kind of money for an item in a game.

You know, my friend raised a good point about D3's endgame.
What are you working towards? MF runs are literally just (as of now) attempts to gear for Inferno. Gold runs are the same, but indirectly via AH. Once you attain A4 inferno clearing with MF, what do you do? Sell things on the RMAH? I'm pretty sure that'd be turning the game into a job, and I've got one of those already that happens to pay more, pay regularly, and grant a lot more worthwhile skill sets. (And is still interesting because I do science to things.) Like, is anyone else having this dilemma? I can't be bothered to give much of a shit about this game. It does not feel like it should be a game we waited a decade for. (Nor one I paid $60 for.) I could go into just why it doesn't, but I'm lazy. For now.

Every game's endgame is that, yes. Then you stop playing the game.
I think what made D2 special for me was I would stop playing it after 2-4 weeks and return to it every 6-8 months for YEARS. I've currently stopped D3 for the first chunk. Will I return? If I do, I'll probably consider it living up to D2. |

Well, see, they basically kind of went after the WoW leveling scheme without the WoW end-game.
In D2, if you hit fully geared and could trounce the land, there was still a pretty good chance you were still leveling. It was a measly five stat points, but it was still better than zero. And they didn't have to take months to patch in PvP. There was also the ladder if you wanted a purely PvE MvB (man vs. body) challenge. In WoW, when you cap, there's actually stuff to do. A wealth of raid experiences and dungeons that, you know, you haven't even visited until now because you couldn't. Also PvP, arena, etc. In D3, when you cap, you're just re-running the same old business so that you can, you know, beat the same old business that just happens to have bigger numbers. D3 as a whole feels more like a "game of big numbers" than a game of skill to me. That's understandable, as an action RPG there's always that aspect to it. It's just when it happens to lean too far to that side. (It's actually fine if it leans too far over to skill.)

Just finished normal mode with my barbarian. Going to try out a different class on normal for the funs of it. The ending was...meh, which is a shame.
