Having played the fan retranslation I can easily say that I prefer the more directly translated dialogue better.

Though it did get weird when I realized all the special attack names were directly translated too and I had to completely relearn them.

I doubt they'll alter Frog's personality, probably just remove the old speak accent style from it. It would like taking [insert any playable character from chrono cross here] and removing the accent. The lines themselves wouldn't change, only the way in which they are spoken.

I imagine they'll go from, "Hande'th over the masamune" to something more along the lines of, "Hand over the masamune."

Or I could be wrong and they could make Frog the most awesome (or disturbing) character in the history of gaming by having him whip his tongue into Crono's scabbard and remove the sword personally. And he could use the tongue to remove other things too... like the Mammon Machine or Magus' glove... Or on second thought, hopefully they won't do that.

Still... a guy can dream...

I just love how nobody cried over the... lets see here... 3 or 4 characters who died randomly during FF4... no... I think it was more than 4...

I didn't cry over the death of any character, period. The only work of fiction that has managed to made me cry was Pikachu's short-lived farewell in the first season of pok�mon. Aeris? Bah. Mufasa? Nope. Bambi's mom? Nuh-uh.
