Most anime sucks. I mean, I love the medium and all, but soooo much of it is shit. Which I think explains the poor ending thing.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei also said something about it as well. Basically that Hollywood, and by extension American television/movie viewers, were generally more concerned with the ending, whereas Japanese care more about the process of reaching the ending, though it didn't claim one as being superior to the other.

I think a good example is Toradora! as the ending wasn't the highlight of the series, and the focus was on everything leading up to it, not that the ending was in anyway bad mind you.

@DarkDrgon: You want someone to come in and prove you wrong*, don't you?

*Or at least try. I dunno. I don't watch Gundam.

To be fair; that's because a whole lot of anime have filler endings or no endings. Plus there's just plain a ridiculously huge amount of anime out there. Like more anime than the totality of western TV shows period (well okay, THAT might be a bit of hyperbole. Maaaaaybe).

I wasn't saying it was a worse ratio, just that the large amount of shitty anime contributes to the large amount of shitty endings.

Gundam's were great when they ended with about 70% of the cast dead and the wars pretty much over.

Probably best ending I've seen in an Anime has got to be Cowboy Bebop. A bunch end decently enough and then there are ones that end shitty. Dunbine had a pretty good ending too in which everyone ended up dead, ah that was a great ending. So was Ideon.

I really need to watch Eureka Seven....I'm getting bad with not watching it but saying I'll watch it.
