Plus if you fight them out of order the game gets tougher (Flame Mammoth without beating Chill Penguin turns half the stage into instant-death). EDIT: I honestly think that very few games can get away with Mega Man retro levels of difficulty anymore. This is why I still love Mega Man X - if you're good at it, the skill is the deciding factor rather than three-lives death and repeat. Plus it was the progenitor of so many platformers, and it was the first SNES game I got when I was young that made me look at the graphics and go holy shit yes.

Goddamn it, do not hate on Megaman Legends. That game was awesome, and probably the best of all the PSX era Megaman games.

My biggest gaming shame is that I've never been able to beat Sigma's final form in Megaman X.
Edit:// Fuck you guys, because of you I'm playing Megaman X 2 while listenning Finnish fusion jazz. Damn you all! Last edited by Si Civa; 02-13-2010 at 09:06 AM. |

I'm on the MMX is the best game side too. I fucking love that game. I still have the SNES cartridge and everything! Then I bought it AGAIN on the Gamecube MMX-6 compilation. And yes, the game can be rediculously easy if you know what order to take the bosses on (My preferred "easy" order- Chill, Storm, Sting, Flame, Spark, Armored, Boomer, and finally Launch which allows me to beat the game in one hour flat on a speed-run). But if you were to say reverse the order and start with Launch Octopus and do Chill Penguin last, you're in for quite a fight.

Now this is a topic worth posting in.
I personally prefer megaman 2 as I think it was the perfect gaming experience. However I say X is a close second. I am very fond of going through these using no special weapons at all (except to pick up upgrades). Oh, and to whomever said it, in megaman 1, you can't miss the secret weapon. If you accidentally beat elec man first, you can reenter stages to get the weapon after you kill gutsman. Finally may I propose a toast to whomever put the kabosh on legends 3 (raises glass): may you be devoured by wolves slowly!

WARNING: No spoiler tag was used in this post. If you haven't played X through X3, go die in a fire (after playing them).
If I had to pick a favorite point, I'd probably choose the SNES X games. Mega Man X is what it is; the awesome introduction to Rock's future counterpart. To me, X2 was ridiculously easy compared to X; that battle with a digitally rendered Sigma was just weak when you consider the epic battles before it. X3 would be my favorite of the three, just because of the sheer amount of power-ups and game twists. Did you beat Bit, Byte and Vile? Make sure they blow up real good! Armor/Weapon/Helmet/Boots upgrade not good enough for you? Get a chip to boost yourself further! "That's not enough"? Don't want to settle for one chip? Get the gold version that gives you all four in one during the first Sigma Stage! "That's still not enough" you say? Well then take Zero's Saber after he gets blown up by a bug! If only they had added more spikes to X. Maybe some turbo fans, too. |

![]() EDIT: Aww noooo! Ninja'd! Well, I'll also say that there's some pretty nifty secrets to screwing bosses over in X. I especially enjoy using a Charged Cutter on Launch Octopus.

My only copy of Legends never worked (second hand from a friend of my dad's, dad lives in Arizona), but Legends 2 seemed nice enough. Didn't play much of it, but it plays a lot like The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, which I adore.
The one thing I could have strangled someone for, though was: Megs: "Hey, Roll, we're going to need some money to fix the ship, so, like, gimme all my sweet stuff so I can rampage." Roll: "Oh, man, I know exactly what you mean! That stuff was pretty sweet!" Megs: "Okay, hand it- wait, was?" Roll: "Oh, yeah, I totally pawned it! ![]() It's not so much that she didn't even so much as keep a helmet or something as much as the way it came off. I wanted to reach through the screen and throttle her. And I didn't even PLAY the first game. Edit: I should state that most of the rest of my experience was a week with MM6, which, yeah, fuck Tomahawk Man, but for that matter, fuck the level design in a few places, too, Mega Man Xtreme 1 and 2 on the GBC, Mega Man X4-6 (of which I only really bothered with 4, but 6 was okay, oddly didn't touch 5 much), MM9, and a full run-through of the original series through 8 by a professional-level gamer, complete with secrets. MM9 is great, though, so I'm looking forward to 10. Especially for the easy mode because I suck. XD Edit Edit: Or, on reflection, it's not the platforming I suck at so much as the boss battles, so maybe the help easy mode gives won't benefit me. ![]()
