well, considering all the bugs, that's not even a bad idea... i'm sure there will be some updates soon enough. Wouldn't even put it past a sequel a few months ahead if they manage to fix some of these issues.

Upon further inspection of this game, my opinion is that it is not worth buying. The people who made it came up with a cool system for combining elements into different spells, but literally every single other aspect of the game is awful. The friendly fire is so extreme that you can accidentally kill a teammate faster than you can blink, and fights are chaotic enough that it happens frequently. The game is full of bugs and glitches and is already on its 7th patch since release, still having some problems. The online play is particularly buggy. A few friends and I have been trying to play it for a while now and we keep getting odd errors like a player's text becoming invisible to other players or people's spells being ignored even though they've got a good connection. Playing the campaign, every 5 feet you walk prompts an interruption of some kind that takes control of the player, points the camera somewhere else, and makes you wait through dialogue that can only sometimes be skipped. The experience is choppy and the combat pacing is awful. Oftentimes on single player one will die so quickly and randomly that they cannot even tell what killed them.

I believe the chaotic friendly fire is supposed to be part of the fun. At least, it's one of the main things that attracted me to the game.

Friendly fire on some level could make it fun, especially since the attitude of the game seems to be a bit light and silly, much like Castle Crashers.
However, when every single spell you cast has a huge chance of accidentally instantly killing your teammates, it gets frustrating. Some friendly fire makes it fun, but they could turn it down a bit. |

The main probably really is that with 4 players and enemies, the maps are too tiny. Some spells can easily cover 1/4 of the screen. That's 25% of chance of you hitting something you don't want/shouldn't . And that's X4 with 4 players. that IF you have good teammates.
The concept is awesome, the artwork is great and voicework too... but it was too hastly done. I'm sure they will release a new version soo enough, but it didn't win me over. |
