I hope you get it for PS3! (assuming I get it as well, that way we can multi-play like we should have but NEVER did in Demons's Souls
![]() I'm just worried they're going to make it harder "just because" and neglect making it fun.. Demons's Souls was already hard, and there were points where it just got to be more of a pain in the ass than anything (Maneater, Flamelurker). I never ragequit on it, but I don't like it when games are frustrating at the cost of being playable. One goes from "this is fun" to "I have better things to do.." really fast when that's the case. I may wait and see what friends say before buying Dark Souls, I keep getting this weird feeling the game's gonna fail to live up to the hype. I'd check the rental place but I doubt they'll have it, they don't even have Demons's Souls :P

Judging from the IGN review, the only parts that are hard just to be frustratingly hard are when you get Curse stacked on you, or a boss fight that can corrode (and break, apparently permanently) your armor if you get caught in one of his attacks.
Also, fuck. Best Buy says they don't know if they are getting any Limited Editions so I think I'm stuck with the default. |

I have an HD TV again. I have Dark Souls fresh from a RedBox. I have several days of no commitments. Fuck yes. Let's do this.

Goddammit, it sucks not to have a next-gen console right now. I feel like I did when I was playing used SNES games and my friends were all jizzing about Final Fantasy VII.
This game sounds fantastic, reminds me of those hard-ass PC RPGs of yesteryear.

I may have binged on Dark Souls all day (Huzzah for no classes on Tuesday!). Tried the Pyromancer, and didn't really like the fireball. I feel it leaves you vulnerable for too long. So after a few hours I made a Bandit and sped through the parts I had already played with only two deaths (compared to the dozens on my first try).
Loving it so far, and just recently got to Blighttown. The Bell Gargoyle duo is a huge pain in the ass if you don't go human and get some allies. Fortunately From Software isn't completely sadistic, and you can summon an EXTREMELY helpful NPC before the fight. Also I killed Gaping Dragon. The fight isn't really that hard since he only has like four attacks, one of which you can disable by cutting of his tail, and the others are easily avoidable. Oh and if a boss has a tail, try to cut it off. Odds are you will get a weapon from it. And finally, fuck the sewers. Those damn bulbous-eyed frog things are gonna give me nightmares. |

Hahahaha Oh man fuck that graveyard. That's one of those "You're going the wrong way but we're not going to tell you haha you're dead again" parts. But you can get a nice spear, a greatsword, and some soul items if you suicide run your way through a few times.

What are the benefits of actually being alive, anyway?

You do more damage, you have higher resistances, and you can summon folks. I think that's it. It's nothing huge, and I spend most of my time dead since I would rather save my Humanity for when I know I need help on a boss fight.

Looks like they toned down how aggressive the boar is since E3. That or maybe I'm just playing less stupidly.
Died my first time against the gargoyles. Should be able to beat them if I can avoid that FUCKING fire.
