Video Games Pondering as I'm wandering...

I'm thinking. I wonder if I should try to get my eldest into Legend of Zelda, now that I've thoroughly beaten Mario Galaxy 2 (and three-quarters thoroughly beaten Mario Galaxy). If so, which should it be?

My first impulse, of course, would be Wind Waker, but... I'm not sure I can do that (that is, I'm not sure where my disk is, and if it even plays on the Wii, if I could find it).

Twilight Princess is a definite mega super nnnnnnnnoope, as that's just terrifying (he's, you know, four), so I'm curious about any others (available for the Wii) that I might peruse.

For the record, together we've conquered:
- Kirby's Epic Yarn: 100% of all achievements and all gold medals (except Meta Island: you suck!)
- Super Mario Wii: beaten, but not 100% done everything yet. I'm... not too enthused to do so a second time (my first perfect completion was deleted when the old Wii died)
- Super Mario Galaxy: 100% completed with Mario, little more than the minimum stars with Luigi. Not sure if getting a photo at the end of the game is worth it.
- Super Mario Galaxy 2: 100% completed; got the special bonus guest to hang with me on my Face Ship!

I'm also thinking about getting back on the horse, again (as it were), with Okami, Last Story, Jade Empire, Dragon Age: Origins and a few others. But those are for Daddy (and Mommy, should she want), not my Eldest...

So, as far as Zelda goes, you got the first two, Link to the Past, OoT, and Majora on the Virtual Console (in North America). Then you got the two you mentioned and Skyward Sword. SS I'm kinda torn on whether I would have enjoyed it as a four-year-old. On one hand, some of the dungeons and bosses are legitimately hard, and I think I'd have gotten frustrated with them (I did get frustrated with some of them as an adult, even). On the other hand, you get to catch bugs, which is the kind of nonsense that seems like a time-sink as an adult and as a legitimatly fun activity to wee phil_. Also the only part I think would scare me as a kid is the one dungeon where you go to hell and fight zombie bokoblins. It's a fun game, though. I'd recommend it for you after Okami, if you haven't already beaten Okami once or twice.

Otherwise LttP is solid.

And I never got that last star in Galaxy 2. How did you do it? My whole college friend sphere tried unsuccessfully to beat that last level without getting hit for months.

If the 3ds virtual console was also an option you could also opt for Link's awakening which is a solid choice.

Video Games That star was a BEAR, though.

I did not think of the virtual console! I might do just that!

I've beaten Skyward Sword, and I loved that game.

I've not beaten Okami, despite finding it one of the more beautiful games I've played, because... um... you know there was a... uh... some... reason... I'm sure...

(It might be the paint-brush mechanic.)

A stupid amount of persistence and a stubborn refusal to quit.

Also I had Mommy help me out as P2, which helped me get past that completely nonsense part with the disappearing platforms, fireball spitting guys, and rings-o'-death spitting spiked guys. That part was just irritating.

The last segment was also irritating, but it, at least, felt like a reasonable irritation.

But that whole thing, man. It was redonculous.

And I'm no where near the skill of people like this, which is just insane (and awesome).

Sadly, I do not. Thanks, though!

(My systems are: Super Nintendo, PS1, PS2, Game Cube, PSP, and Wii. Hypothetically, there's an N64 somewhere around here, but, uh... I don't know where. The ones that are reasonable for me to use, are the PS or PS2 and Wii.)

I played through and beat the original Zelda when I was around 4.

I was terrified of Ganon though, and made my mom beat him. I couldn't even be in the same room when he was on screen, because of how scary he was.

That's how my son is with a few things, too! It's... pretty adorable.

(He's totally not scared of Bowser, however. He even plays where Bowser becomes "Nice Bowser" and hangs out with Luigi, Mario, Princess Peach, Rosalina, and Yoshi. Recently, Nice Bowser converted the Koopas and Goombas to be nice Koopas and Goombas and taught Bowser Jr. to be Nice, too. Also, the 'Galaxy games have ruined him for metacommentary. There are multiple Marios and Luigis and Bowsers running around whenever it's convenient - a lesson he learned by watching 'Galaxy 1 when Luigi ran into... Luigi in the galaxies. Love my kid.)

Also: he's playing Wind Waker! So proud!

You might also want to try some Zelda knockoffs homages like Oceanhorn and Ittle Dew.

Video Games I know why they exist, and they're good, but those login limits can be irritating.

Perhaps!

Right now, two three game-things are being really irritating:
- Nox won't stop flickering (I'm running it compatibility mode, and the settings seem to change nothing)
- My wife's Steam account is being a real pain
- As it turned out, we needed a Game Cube Memory Card to save our WW game, so we have to start over again (fortunately, our four-year-old doesn't mind, but too many more times will get tedious instead of fun...)

Not a great computer or video games night.

:/

EDIT: Zelda save lacking! :/

EDIT 2:

Well, at least Steam has let us in! Turns out it was my fault (as is probably most typical for such things). Whooooooooooooops!

Still can't get Nox to stop flickering or find my Memory Card for Game Cube.

Since fallout 4 is dead to me now ive been catching up on other things.

Farting around in subnautica the newer batch of updates.

Rip n tear'n about in DOOM on hardest difficulty.

Starting over in dark souls 3 with a better understanding of mechanics and Stat weights.

Shreking anus with Reinhardt in overarching or patching up wrecked buttholes with Juicio in overwatch.
